to be stated is what your values are going into the season. If the NIT is not valued due to risk or lack of interest, then declare your intentions at the outset of the season. Make a statement that NIL obligations and personal preferences supersede inclusion to other activities not label "NCAA Tournament" and be done with it. DO NOT allow fans to become hopeful for them to represent this university when, in fact, it is not something they did not "sign up for". Having the rug pulled out from underneath you is not a good look.

Had VT beaten WF on Tuesday, would they have forfeited the next game against Clemson? Their excuses for not continuing to play in the NIT were based on health, available players, and career development. All those issues were present had they continued in the ACC tournament, but I highly doubt they would have played that card then. It's obvious they pulled the plug when given the chance. A fan base expects the team they support to give at least a glimpse of "I give a ****" not fold like a house of cards. Otherwise, the fans move on.

discombobulated. It seems the loss by his Hoos has disrupted the brain cells inside his follicle-less dome. He complains about the discrepancy in foul shots but earlier concedes that the vaunted Cavaliers are not playing well ("Virginia continues to be off. No excuses. Just not good today."). I guess by the end of the day his frustration over losing to a depleted Va Tech squad festered into an unrealistic rant about the number of foul shots. He used the same excuse for the Hoos game against Butler. A weak excuse from a weak fan. I take pleasure in seeing the UVA fans come uncorked when they lose to their archrival.

I foresee there being a focus from the officiating crew tonight to weigh heavily in favor of the Hoos. The ACC needs to have UVA crowned as the conference champion to avoid the embarrassment of being shut out of the college playoff scenario. If Duke wins, chaos ensues. Without having a team in the playoffs, the ACC loses tv revenue and any argument regarding respect. Don't be surprised if there are several phantom calls that benefit UVA or they overlook blatant penalties by UVA. I'm sure the directive has come down from the ACC office to the officials that it is in their best interest to ensure that UVA is crowned as champions.

We've just been in purgatory waiting for the stench from the previous staff and players to clear our noses. I have no ill will for either the staff or the players. They were only acting in accordance with the expectations that were allowed to persist within the organization. There are new expectations now. As a Hokie, I hope the new regime will "walk the talk" and deliver us from the depths from which we reside.

any consideration for adding a meaningless score within the final seconds of a game that was already decided. It is an arrogant move by a classless organization with a reputation for being thugs. They did nothing to dispel that image. And the broadcasters did their best to urge UM to run up the score. I guess the ESPN & UM marriage is well deserved because neither organization can act with any integrity.

Looking back on the schedule thus far, VT has lost to USC (close and a valiant effort), Vandy (they are undefeated at 5-0 and tied for first place in SEC), and ODU. Wins have been against Wofford (as expected) and NC State (unexpected). The lost to ODU was apparently the final nail in the coffin for Pry and, possibly, Whit. Keep the faith. Not saying that the road going forward is easy, but it is plain to see the path we were following with Pry was a dead end.

It is obvious that he is not what we were told he would be. Did any of the coaches not see the issues with his accuracy and decision making? The last 3 games have been an indication that we need to change up that position (along with many others) but, as usual, nothing will happen.

from our perspective. It is valid to question the current regime's decision to start anyone, given that their evaluation of talent so far has been weak, if not inappropriate. How can anyone on this staff legitimately say they are qualified to evaluate talent knowing that we have seen the product of their decision making?

It is apparent to the child that the behavior will be tolerated until someone with authority takes over. This is what we are witnessing now with the players. We cannot expect them to become disciplined when there is no one in charge. The malignancy will become rooted even deeper as each week passes. The price for not doing anything now (firing Brent and Whit) will be more costly if things progress until the end of the season. Players may jump ship out of fear of the unknown but, if that is their take on improving the product, then can they be relied upon to heal the current disease that has engulfed our program? Doing nothing has a long-term cost.

"This team is undisciplined, unprepared, and uninspired." Nothing has changed. I am frustrated that our program continues to do a death spiral until we meet our ultimate destination, the ground (if we haven't already reached that point). From what I can see, no-one in charge of this thing has the knowledge or will to right the ship. College football, in its current form, has passed us by.

focused, disciplined, nor tough. Those attributes are not required when you are hitting your shots or finding the open look. They need to surface when adversity arrives or when the other team is pushing you. Sadly, we have demonstrated a lack of those attributes.

The networks are biased towards certain teams and conferences so, until you can make a positive impression when the opportunity arises, you will be trapped in the fog. Not saying it's fair or justified but, this is the state of sports.

It's all about revenue (which team travels well and provides the most cash to the host locations) and which fan base and alums are most influential. Unfortunately the playoff system will always be subjected to decisions made by "those in the know" who don't know squat about ethics and fair play.

The failure to contain a mediocre QB from gaining essential yardage when a short gain would have ended the drive. Inconsistent play from our QB is not addressed to the demise of the entire offense. Remember that roll of the dice during the ODU game when we were knocking on the goal line and the coaching staff thought that would be a good time to experiment with a different QB? How did that work out? The outcome of the ODU game was a win on the scoreboard but all the indicators that trouble was ahead were revealed. If not for some timely turnovers by ODU, the flow of the game at the end would have been just like last year. Can we improve? Yes. Will we improve? I haven't seen anything to suggest we are learning from our mistakes. I love VT football but, man, is this unbearable to watch.

The change at QB was needed about a quarter sooner. The switch that late in the game was unfair to Drones (asking him to do the impossible) and signals to the rest of the team that the coaching staff has no clue and is winging it in hopes of catching a break. Success comes from proper planning and adhering to sound judgement, not rolling out some player or weird play call in hopes that something will work. Define who you are, know your limitations, and exploit the other guy's weakness. I haven't seen any of that. If they return to Wells as the starting QB next week it screams "We have no clue and we're going back to the things we know will fail." Drones is the future of this team and they need to support him by letting everyone else on the team know he's going to be in there regardless of the outcome. Wells has proven he's not the guy. Sitting Drones after seeing the mess Wells made on the field will send Drones back to the portal.

Consideration has to go the the officiating crew at JPJ Arena yesterday. Their lack of understanding of the rules in a basketball game will have consequences for the league's final standings.
