Posting History (50)

Hokie Wrestlers just clinched the ACC tourney title!

Amazing job in what was supposed be a "down" year (redshirting National Champ Caleb Henson). Future is insanely bright with returners and Bo Bassett, etc. coming next year.

Gus never AA’d did he? Devin was a 3x AA…several errors there.

I’m reminded of the quote β€œEverything on the internet is true, Abe Lincoln said so!”

Should he AA again next year, EV replaces Dance, imo

Dance was consistently good his whole career and "only" AA'd twice. EV had a tough freshman year before going off at NCAAs.

Well, consider all the ingredients;

Compared to most other boards and sports, the wrestling community is pretty tight knit and given the individual nature of the sport, it IS a little more personal. You’ve got parents, fans, coaches, (and probably some of the wrestlers) viewing and chiming in. On a somewhat related note, my HS coaches one year put on the team shirt, β€œNo place to hide”. So very true. You’ve got passionate fans who want our guys to succeed. Coaches that are largely, very successful and accessible to us VT wrestling fans. Combine all of that with one of β€œour” talented boys entering the portal looking to leave and it makes for some drama. Kind of like an awkward Thanksgiving meal but the conversation is open for all to see/read. With all of that said…Love you guys! Go Hokies!

Thanks for doing this...Mercy - on paper - NC State is going to smoke us

On paper!!! I plan on attending in Raleigh on the 23rd - hoping Bryce will be back! Pitt first - Go Hokies!

Agreed on your last point...would you please share your "line" for

Player - Coach? What would Kelce have to have done to Andy Reid to warrant, in your opinion, a 2nd half benching?

Please respond with your opinion on where your "line" is.

Would Kelce had to have pushed him to the ground to warrant a 2nd half benching? ...punching him? Where's your line?

Not quite...we're talking the 2006 Gator Bowl vs the Superbowl and on-field

incident vs. shoving Frank Beamer. It would've been a statement, just not comparable to the one AR didn't make last night.

So, in hindsight, you're implying that letting Vick play the 2nd half was

the incorrect decision? What are your thoughts RJHokie on Reid not benching Kelce for the 2nd half last night? ...and like I've asked others in this thread, where's your "line" between player and coach that would've justified benching Kelce in the 2nd half (shove to ground? punch?, etc.)

If that's what' happened, and I suspect you're right, it does slightly

damage Frank's status, imo - slightly. He was known to be fairly soft on discipline issues. That's one I certainly feel he made the wrong call (assuming he did see it, in game).

Maybe so....that doesn't change the fact that he could've made

a legendary statement that a line was crossed by player to a coach. Now, you may draw a line in a different place than I, but you do have a line and I'm sure AR does, too. Regardless, a world-will-never-forget statement opportunity was missed, imo. Again, I won't remember who won the 2024 Superbowl without looking it up 5 years from now.

Misplaced, obviously. ...and you make an interesting point.

Supposedly Frank didn't see it...not sure how much I believe that. That brings up an interesting point...do you remember that Gator bowl more for the victory or the somewhat scummy way "we" won it. Vick's shenanigans and that inaction by Beamer definitely soured some of the victory for me, honestly. I'll also never forget our D-line ABUSING Hunter Cantwell, haha

I agree they'll both brush it off. Thanks for responding with your "line".

It appears we simply disagree with where the line is. Thanks again for responding.

I know he does, I get it. Kelce crossed the line, imo. Where is your line?

Serious question. Where would you draw the line to have benched Kelce in the 2nd half? A shove to the ground? A punch? Where's your line that would justify Kelce's benching?

Of course I'm serious. So where would you draw the line?

If Kelce had pushed him to the ground would you then have been okay with benching? If Kelce had punched him...? We all have a line, where's yours? Serious question.

Well, consider me "soft" then. Reid had a chance to make a LEGENDARY

statement. He already had Superbowl trophies and 5 years from now I won't remember ANY specifics about this game other than the opportunity Andy Reid didn't take. Had he benched Kelce for the 2nd half (as he should've/could've), I would've respected him for LIFE. Think about the teaching moment and opportunity he had on the world's biggest stage (TSwift adding to that). Yelling and being frustrated with a coach is one thing. Chest bumping him while you're throwing a hissy-fit - completely unacceptable. Man...what a missed opportunity that could've potentially had an impact on youth sports leagues for a generation and beyond.

Well, that depends on NIL payment structure.

Are they paid up front, all at once? Monthly? By game? I don’t know. Seems to me if a collective β€œsigns” a player for say $48K then you would pro-rate that on a per game basis and have bonus $$ potential for conf. championship and/or bowl game.

Worth sharing re: uNC - Another reason to despise them and their hypocrisy

I sure hope every opposing coach in the nation is aware - talk about a negative recruiting tool!

Error in scheduling article? FSU "lead[s] the all-time series 23-1-13."

I know I'm getting old but I remember watching 3 victories vs. FSU in the last 16 years (2007, 2010 title game, 2018). Am I misreading that part of the article? Boy that 2010 FSU title game victory was SWEET!! ** Edited by VTraised at 1/31/2023, 6:59:51 AM

If you haven't watched the "day in the life" of Dax on Hokiesports - Do So!

My goodness - I was very very rarely ever one to ever criticize a VT athlete's performance. They try their best and it's up to the coaches to play the best and put them in positions to succeed. After watching that, I hope to never do it again. The amount of TIME and EFFORT these guys put in during the "off" season, wow. I'm exhausted watching that. We won't win 'em all, but I have more of an appreciation of what it took just to earn the right to suit up and step onto Worsham field. Let's Gooooo!
