That is...something.

Looks like someone took that image and tried to make it more...um..."modern"...

True love is hard to find.

Sometimes you think you have true love and then you catch the early flight home from San Diego and a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a goddamn magic show, ready to double-team your girlfriend...

I said "I see you got a new coach" to my Maryland co-worker this morning...

She immediately rolled her eyes. First thing she mentioned was some sex abuse scandal during his time at Marquette. I was wondering if that was something new just getting out, but apparently was news for a while, but it's something Maryland fans are picking up, I guess. My brief conversation with her seemed to indicate that Maryland fans right now are pissed at the former coach leaving, and all the players hitting the portal. Her quote (paraphrased) - "All of our players are leaving. We don't have a team, and we're left with some guy named 'Buzz'". I was telling her about all the quirky "look at me things" to expect from him. She said "I had an uncle that went by 'Buzz'. He was the black sheep of the family. Guys who call themselves 'Buzz' are weird and can't be trusted." So...lol. Anyway, it's very anecdotal, and she's not necessarily an uber fan, but I got from her that the general reach from Maryland fans seems to be "meh" - but they probably need to see what players they get.

I know, I know...it'sThe Sabre...but apparently we're dysfunctional...

At least according to UVA_SBDad.... "I went into this weekend expecting the chokies win this series, they're always tough at home and usually start fast early in the season and wear down latter in the spring when the dysfunction the coach has instilled in their culture really kicks in. Maybe his blunder in this game accelerates that process this year."

I'm an EV proponent...but those sound terrible.

My Kia EV-6 cost 1/3 of what they're charging, has double the range, and does 0-60 in 4 seconds (and does well over 90 mph, lol). And it charges from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes...I'm guessing these RBWs have a more antiquated system. I can't see many of these selling. Seems to be just for folks who want to take a leisurely drive around the countryside.

I saw that they actually *schedule* that now.

Back in my day, it just happened. No need to put something out on Instagram/Tik Tok/whatever. Harumph.

I've always thought like you...especially for hotels.

We are fortunate enough to have friends that live in Blacksburg, and can stay there. When we were talking about the hotel situation, I brought up that it would be hard to build more hotels when the current ones probably only fill up 8-10 weekends out of the year. He was adamant that there is enough conference and other events at VT year round to support building more hotels. I'm skeptical, to say the least.

Let's start with cleaning up the Main Street area.

The old Sharkey's (the building next to the current Sharkey's) needs to be fixed up and have a business move in there. Then there's the old Tech Bookstore which sits empty (I think it was a mattress store for a year or two), and the dilapidated house across the side street from Cabo Fish Taco (there's some sign in the yard...used to be an art place...or something). The bank that's a door or two down from the old London Underground could probably make a really cool restaurant/bar - looks like it's home to a moving company now. A number of the buildings that house businesses along Main Street could use a good paint job, or at least a power washing. A block of Main St, there's an old Motel that shares the parking lot with Benny's pizza - I think at one end of it they sell funnel cakes or something. No idea if the rest of the motel is still used as a motel (or maybe cheap student apartments?) But now I'm just rambling.

Good question...no, it's a new coach. I guess the previous one was fired.

When I looked up the new coach, he was hired back in December. You'd think that would have been plenty of time to evaluate the kids and give them notice well in advance.

Miami women's soccer coach cutting players right before season

My wife has a co-worker who's daughter was playing soccer at Miami. Getting ready to enter her Junior year - was a starter last year. Apparently she (and a few others) were told just a week or so ago that they were no longer on the team. Right before the season is getting ready to start. Talk about being blindsided. Not much of a chance to transfer...and besides she apparently loves going to school there, so that would be a tough snap decision to make. Apparently the coach told her that she "plays too much like a European". Tough to be put in that situation. (Disclaimer that I'm getting this all 3rd hand from my wife...so the details are a little fuzzy...)

I see Van Lith is on the 3x3 U.S. basketball team (spoiler inside)

Took a loss to Germany earlier today. I guess Georgia didn't make the Australian team (not sure if they're fielding a 3x3 team).

Ha...I'm right near the monument now. But I settled in at

The Walrus and Carpenter. I was thinking about Churchills War Room. I'm staying right near the Tower of London...probably get inside tomorrow. Then the stuff over by Buckingham Palace. Kinda want to check out the Sherlock Holmes museum as well. This is gonna be a bit explatory for a longer visit in the future. Heading up to Harrogate on Sunday for the week.

@Chris Coleman - I'm in London today and tomorrow.

I'll probably do some of the typical tourist stuff tomorrow...but anything in particular you recommend? Any specific pubs or restaurants?

Hey...the rest of us don't get the "Is Sticky Post?" option! lol

But really...it's amazing how many links get posted without people using the link button...

So, I feel like there's mixed messages on Tobi Lawal...

Lots of people here seem excited, and the kid can jump. But in Friday's Q&A, here's a few quotes from CC: "Lawal is 6-8, 200, can defend the four or the five and he has two years of eligibility remaining. He’s a very raw player from London, England, but he’ll be one of the freakiest athletes to ever put on the maroon and orange." "Lawal isn’t very skilled at this point in his career." "Mike Young will be getting an unfinished product with plenty of potential that is currently untapped. I’m sure that excites him." So...how excited should I actually be that we got this kid? It's one thing to describe an incoming freshman as "raw" and "not very skilled" and "plenty of potential" - but this kid is halfway through his college career already. Are we going to get 2-3 highlight dunks a game...but be frustrated about the rest of his play? I don't know nuthin' about nuthin'...just sort of interesting to see some different takes on TSL.

I haven't cared much for the Yellowstone episodes I've seen. But...

...I got sucked into both 1883 and 1923. This movie seems to have bit of the same vibe as 1883.

Scroll down the board...information seems to be leaking.

I don't know what to believe and what not to believe, but it sure seems like things had gotten tense with him in the last year.

So, the one site I found that talked about Marquette WBB...

...had a few comments about a number of players transferring out, and their concern about Duffy's ability to retain players. But...just one article, with all of two comments. I don't get the feeling that WBB has a big fan following at Marquette.

I appreciate your response, Chip

I was unaware of some of the stuff you posted about Kenny. It seemed to me, looking in from the outside, that he was about as wedded to VT as possible - kids all attending VT, huge popularity for the team, etc. Which is why the departure (and his handling, or lack thereof, of it) has made me cynical about pretty much every coach at this point. If football has as a good a season as we're all hoping for, I'm gonna be pretty nervous that someone from SEC/B10 puts feelers out to Pry. It's the situation we're in now.

I'm pretty cynical after the events of last week...

...so my first question to your question is...who will our softball coach be next season? I've seen a couple of mentions of Auburn coming after Pete, but I don't know if that's just a placeholder name for "any SEC/B10 school", of if there really is some indication that Auburn is interested. Regardless, we pretty much know that Kenny Brooks left due to facilities/NIL/conference stability. After this weekend, when we got swept by a Duke program, that (according to what I've read on here), was built rather quickly...how can we know that Pete isn't thinking "sigh...if I'd just been able to sign 2 or 3 of the kids that got away, we'd be in a better position...and I need more NIL for that..." I am at the point that I expect to lose both the softball and baseball coaches after this season.

GMU is going for cricket instead. Seriously (kind of).

Some guy is trying to partner with them to build a 10,000 seat cricket stadium, which also be used for baseball. The neighors are not happy.
