Fuente's next year was ok and then results deteriorated necessitating hiring a new coach. So we go out and hire a VT type person, Pry, who is a Beamer type with Fuente's recruits So instead of having Fuente coaching with Beamer's recruits, we have Pry coaching with Fuente's recruits. VT hired an assistant from a prominent program who is accustomed to getting higher rated players. Can such a person be effective with recruiting lower rated players? I don't think Bowen has adapted. He will have to get better players to be successful. So for the Pry regime to be successful it will have to have better players. Can it do so? The other model is to hire coaches from lower classification programs who have been successful at all levels. JMU, App State, Mike Houston, etc. With these the Peter Principle might apply. Whit Babcock's history has been to hire successful coaches from lower classifications. It is for this reason that I will never believe that Pry was his choice.
