What ceiling?
It might be similar to the one at Indiana. Never in my wildest dreams did I think Indiana would win a National Championship. The one thing I really hate about college football is the fact that championships are limited to a small group of elites. As a HOKIE, I will be happy winning ACC championships, but I don't believe in limiting our thinking. Lane will be rocking again real soon. I will enjoy every minute of that and hope for bigger things.

But they are THE Notre Dame...!
If college football doesn't play by their rules, they will take their ball and go home. Pouting is so childish. It finally happened that Notre Dame missed the cut. They can't handle it.

Sarcasm is the Answer!
The reason for my post... you sarcastic ass... is that some VT fans are complaining that Franklin can't win the "big" games against the top 10. Right now, I would settle for any wins at VT that move us up to the top tier.
Here is another answer: Being a sarcastic ass helps no one.

Questions
We need to close the deal if we can....
Q: What should be VT's first goal?
A: Making it back to the ACC Championship Game.
Q: Is James Franklin capable of leading VT to that goal?
A: Yes. It will take one hell of a turn-around, and that starts with recruiting. Franklin's name can bring talent to VT.
Q: Should we be worried about VT being a National Championship contender during this hire?
A: No. VT is not going to get anywhere without first returning to the top tier of the ACC.

Is VT committed to a better program?
James Franklin is the best choice if he will even consider VT.
Shane Beamer is not high on VT and I think I understand. When Fuente was hired, there was a brief rumor that Bud Foster and Shane Beamer would be retained at VT. Foster was, Beamer was not. I attended the call-in show on a Monday after Fuente was hired. Shane Beamer was present at that call-in show even though it had already been announced that he was not being retained on the new staff. I was interested in Shane's body language and it was very evident that VT was about to be in the rear-view mirror...permanently. Shane moved on. He has not looked back and I doubt that he will. His heart is just not with VT. I am sure this was also difficult for Frank Beamer. Several posts here have indicated that the Beamer era is over. I believe that this is true. I believe that it officially ended when Shane Beamer was not retained. That was the bookend. I am not placing judgment as to whether that is a good thing or a bad thing. It just is...what it is.
