I didn't take your comment that way at all. I was referring to
posts I've seen the last couple of days. I agree with ya....our house has enjoyed watching her the past few years. I wouldn't complain if we paid her a million and she got us to the championship game 2 years in a row. It would be worth every penny..

It's a tough crowd here. I enjoy watching Texas Tech and Canady.
I was thinking last night, when I was up way past my bedtime, that this tourney and these young ladies from all the teams continue to give the best fan experience sports has to offer....year after year. I get the whole buying a team talk but wouldn't we all be complaining if our school had the resources and wasn't doing the same?

UCLA coach is a she. Pitching depth was very thin
for UCLA this year. I'm not sure how much her arm can handle, but it's not a surprise she got all the mound time.

Jason was kicked out of Friday's game. He was allowed back in
and then the Florida fan he was mouthing with was kicked out. I don't know exactly what happened but looks like today going to be lots of fun.

I think what "could happen" shouldn't trump what is happening
And the starter was still in control of the game. Just my 2 cents.

It was too soon, imo. And now Texas has seen Brown more innings and that
makes game 3 a different ballgame.

That last pitch was off speed straight down the middle
That's not going to fool many hitters. BUT that was a tough situation to put her in. Let's see how she throws the next inning with a clean slate.

Yes but at least it's on. I was out of town with my daughter

I can only talk about what I saw with my own eyes...
Geno was complaining because he said his player's jersey was ripped and she didn't even get a foul call. Video clearly shows the UConn player ripping her own jersey. Geno approached Dawn, she looked civil, he started running his mouth... Dawn didn't take it. Dawn says he was complaining about a pregame handshake but video shows she gave him a pregame handshake and a hug. Now Geno is saying he expected her to come back sometime again pregame and give him another handshake..puhleaze. He couldn't take a loss. I would rather him just say I'm pissed because I don't like to lose. I could respect that.

I agree.... Looked like sore loser attitude to me
I've watched opposing coaches and teams beat down by UConn by 50-60 points take their shame walk through the post game handshake respectfully (And I know it's not always easy and I try not to judge kids whenever emotions are high). Geno couldn't do it but kudos to the UConn women who stayed on the court when their coach couldn't handle it.

A couple of the extras I loved today....
Our bench play-I enjoy watching Suffren play both ends of the floor. And Trent came through on defense for two big stops in the 4th quarter.
Raven and Liz congratulating Carleigh and the team post-game.
Coach Franklin in the tunnel pumped about the win. Carleigh passed him up and went back to celebrate with him.
This team....even when the shots aren't falling they play hard and with a chip on their shoulder.
We wanted to be there today in person, but far SWVA weather wouldn't let us out of our driveway today. It's always a good day when you beat the Wahoos.

I think the refs agreed that the clock didn't start on time but ran
Their own clock and said he still got it off on time. At least that's what I think happened.

My 13 year old said the same as we were watching last night
So this HOKIE family of 4 will be traveling from FAR SWVA Sunday to support. We wanted to come up Saturday to catch the women's game too but a youth bball tourney is preventing that. Last night was fun to watch and hoping for a packed house Sunday!

Every at bat against her gives the hitter an advantage
But her pitches didn't have the late movement and zip on the 1st inning. I don't know if it was just one of those days or she was tired but I'm sure Canady knows which one it was.

I hate all intentional walks.....my daughter is a
High school junior and has been intentionally walked way too many times this year and I get mad every single time. But if I'm a college coach and can use the pitch count clock to not throw the pitches then you dang right I'm taking the less risky option.

High school lets you intentional walk without throwing
Which is far less risky. Never thought about using the pitch clock in that situation.....that's a good idea.

As a fan of the game and with no rooting interest in that
particular game, I was glad the game didn't end on the review. I agree just touch the bases. But, the only time there's no competitive advantage to not touching a base is on a dinger. You earn each base as soon as you touch it except on a ball over the fence. You earned all of the bases as soon as it goes over the fence. As a fan, I was glad it ended on a clutch hit and not the review.

For me the strategy part is it's the bottom of the lineup.
Go after the bottom of the lineup especially with runners on. Don't want to turn the lineup over.....which is exactly what the walk did.

THIS!!! I have taken a long break but have been
Scanning the softball board the last few days. I left because of the body shaming posts. I have a teen in remission from an eating disorder and live in fear daily of her reading or hearing something that triggers her. I can't be involved in something for fun that could trigger someone else's child, so I decided to leave the board. And I have missed being on the boards

You must not remember that the softball
board is relatively new and only started when we became a successful program. And if you thought the comment was fun then your sense of humor hasn't matured since you were 10.

If Will renames this forum to the "Virginia Tech Softball and
Middle School Jokes About Physical Appearances Board" then I will agree with you. But until then it's a VT Softball Board that is designed to respectfully discuss and celebrate the sport.
