Posting History (33)

The shooting gave all players on team an extra year of eligibility.

Of course that only accounts for those on team at that time. Here’s an overview per Wahoos247. I’d also count players like Thomas and Mills, as mentioned. We’ll see how it plays out, but confident a sizable amount of starters return.

A lot of those seniors have more eligibility

As I mentioned below, think 10-12 starters or those who were going to start will return. But yeah, no doubt will need to find a lot in the portal.

Another way to look at it: UVA was coming off a 5 win season last year

And accumulated a ton of talent in portal. They should be more attractive this year post 11 win season and have a ton of $ to work with.

Pretty sure UVA will return 10-12 starters

Or guys like Mills and Thomas who were going to start this year but didn’t play due to injury. There’s a solid base to work from.

Saunders has been a top three player for Virginia this year

His absence forced minutes for TJ Power, who has been god awful. In tight games, that can make all the difference.

That would be me. Respect. Zanderhokie also called it β€œcrazy talk.”

And questioned if he would be drafted at all. Dunn seems like a really good dude, hope he has a great career and develops some semblance of offense.

Nickel NIL

For those in the know, any truth to Trilly’s Discord comments that Nickel got a $400K NIL deal? Was surprised to hear that given I’ve read on here hoops NIL at VT is limited.

The one that really pisses me off is Nova

As of yesterday AM, Lunardi had them as the first team out of the tourney. At that time they were 11-9 (4-5 in Big East) with losses to the entire city of Philly (Drexel, Penn, and St Joe’s). They dropped game to Marquette last night so assuming they move to second team out at… 11-10. Unrelated, for those doubting Dunn’s draft stock as many on this board have, he’s still projected in lottery by many.

No. Dunn is far better player than Beran

UVA needs front court help, but don’t think Beran would solve much.

Up to 12…

NBA drools over long athletic wings. I wouldn’t be surprised.

He’s no Trey Murphy. Completely different player bc Trey is one of the better shooters in the NBA with elite athleticism. That was his ticket. Dunn may need to prove to be at least an adequate shooter to make it in the first round, which is questionable at this point.

The Athletic has him at 22 in latest mock draft

ESPN has also had him in first round in mocks at some point. His stock is only rising.

Never said guaranteed or lottery. β€œLikely” first rounder

Perhaps too strong a characterization, but he’s definitely in the conversation. Also looking forward to the Beran/Dunn discussion as the season progresses. Robbie is a good player and wish we had him, but don’t think he would be starting, that’s all. ** Edited by ReasFordHoo at 11/17/2023, 12:30:12 AM

You’re short selling Buchanan

He has a ways to go, of course, but he has looked ready. 18 and 7 vs Florida. I don’t doubt Tony was looking for good options in front court, but my point was it was never going to be instead of Dunn. Dunn was clearly going to play a huge role this year and was pencilled in as a starter and likely first rounder in this year’s draft.

Believe you explicitly said that Beran was better than Dunn

And no, I don’t think Beran would start with emergence of Buchanan. Groves is playing 17mpg and hasn’t started the last two games.

So to be clear, you think Beran is the better player?

Not trying to catch you in a β€œgotcha” moment, because the year is young and more than anything was curious from the get go about your stance. What exactly is your position and rationale behind it regarding those two?

Beran v Dunn

GC, has your tune changed on this one? Believe you stated you thought Tony was looking recruiting Beran with intent as a starting piece instead of Dunn, or something to that effect. Obviously, Tony ultimately took Groves. Haven't seen more than stretches of South Carolina game--how has Beran looked early in year? Very impressed by Kidd. Will be a huge test for Buchanan.

Not that you asked, but I'd consider that unlikely for any ACC team

Not impossible, but certainly not likely. 3 wins seems like a fair over/under. Looking forward to a great game tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if UVA continues to go small. Shedrick got just 5 minutes against FSU. We rode the Kihei, Beekman, McKneely, Franklin, BVP lineup without a single substitution for the last 15 (!!!) minutes of the UNC game.
