I can say firsthand that the calls/letters have increased significantly in the last 12 months. Fortunately we have a few big hitters in Ken Kendrick and Pat McAfee. So private donations are certainly a large portion. The other biggest thing has been a reallocation of seating and required donations for both main sports but primarily basketball. The next big thing on the horizon is corporate partnerships via naming rights. You are going to start seeing it on everything. Most recently the basketball arena changed it's name from the WVU Coliseum to the Hope Coliseum where the school receives $2M annually over 10 years from Hope Natural Gas. I feel certain they'll be many more changes as we fight the futile battle against the blue bloods.

Hello Hokie fans. Haven't posted on here since the lead up to the 2022 game. I have visited Blacksburg several times since and hope the pendulum goes in the other direction for you guys very soon (as I do for myself but believe we are on the right path). Anyway, with that said, I seen all the recent headlines and articles around VT adding $47.1M to the athletics budget for the current fiscal year and a goal that increases in 2029 ultimately landing at the $229M. What I haven't see is how you get there? What is the slated primary funding source? Private donations, rev share, all of the above? Just curious if the blueprint to achieve this budget is out there or if this is just the budgetary goal?

It's time! Can't tell you folks how excited I am to be in Blacksburg tomorrow. I've been to several games at Lane, never a Black Diamond matchup. I expect the atmosphere to be off the charts. Going to be a great day and great night of college football!

I feel like Pitt is (from top to bottom) superior to WVU; however, the Backyard Brawl has a tendency to yield wacky results (yes, that's a 2007 reference). Everyone keeps talking about how much they lost, they bring back probably the best defense they've had in quite some time. We have never ran the ball consistently well in the NB era. The landscape is so different now, but back then both WVU and VT played such hard-nosed, blue collar football. We didn't always beat the big dogs, but we certainly punched them in the mouth and had identities. It's hard to be optimistic after many 6 win seasons, but getting to play Pitt and VT has put excitement through the roof for me.

You folks have been kind to me on this site since 2017. Here's to hoping we both have a fantastic season and enter Sept 22 undefeated!! I can't wait to arrive in Blacksburg and experience a beautiful fall afternoon and evening of football. It is going to feel like the old Big East days!!
