Decker is interesting because
Reading up on him he picked up Heupels offense at Fordham from an assistant who worked under Heupel.
He runs a similar wide-set offense and has had success. But it’s strange they put up big numbers but aren’t overly efficient (at least odu) mid-30s between F+ and SP+ ratings.
I wonder if Franklin trusts him to run an offense and he can spend money on a high priced DC?
Note: odd that Montgomery runs a similar Baylor wide-set offense historically - but I haven’t seen a ton of it. Still run game has been an A+ back half of the season.

It would be strange…
But I loved Pry - I wish he could have won here. I don’t see him wanting to join the administration that fired him…but…

Very Overblown the OSU & Mich teams went a collective 168 and 22
So basically 90% of the teams they played lost to them ...
3 of those teams were National Champions who everyone lost to.

Cornelsen was okay...
not great, but they have all been really inconsistent. They've had one or two better than average years, (Stiney 2009-2010 with Tyrod was a top 25 offense, Cornelsen with Jerrod Evans was a top 35) but outside of those few years, they almost all were below average consistently.
2007 - 2014 Montgomery offenses were ranked: 21st (Houston), 13th, 85th (RGIII injury), 29th, 2nd, 2nd, 5th, 7th...
We have never had an offense even come close to those numbers at Houston or Baylor...

Across the board Philip Montgomery led offenses out perform all of our past offensive coordinators. It’s not to say it’s a guarantee, but he has a level of consistency that lacked across all our other coordinators.
Bowen could generate explosive plays, but last year (go look at our drive charts) we stalled on drive after drive - explosive plays were all we had to stay in the game.
Cornelsen lacked consistency and red zone offense
Loeffler, as much as I liked him as a person and his work ethic, has fielded really poor offenses
Here’s to hoping

On Paper - Philip Montgomery is Virginia Tech's best Offensive Coordinator
Metrics-wise, its a good hire, he's had a few bad years, but his bad years are VTs average. The charts below show just how much more consistency Philip has over any of the previous coordinators back to 2007 (thats as far back as https://www.bcftoys.com goes)

I would…
If I were Pry, but I would have asked him already with an inexperienced DC to help with prep and someone in the film room at the least
I’ve heard he was around, but I’m not sure the capacity…I’d just imagine he would have already been that person if he felt up to it?
I don’t know - I just remember reading an interview (maybe it was Andy’s?) where he went in a little more detail about his heart issues

If he didn’t have legit health concerns…
I would think it’s a possibility but with the health concerns my guess is 0
Pry’s quote about vetting candidates was a little surprising.
Hopefully we end up landing a top choice candidate.
