This team will soon belong to Sears, Anderson, Harris-Mott, Dimario, and the C/O 27 4 stars. Until then, Wenzel should play 35+ minutes and have a season for Hokies to talk about for years, Dimario and Trent/Jenkins will probably split the minutes especially at first this upcoming season, Latham and Hurst starting at Forward, and Sears/Suffren splitting time alongside Carleigh. Wells should not start this season with the current talent but Coach may feel she earned this by playing the limited starting role she had last year. I hope Wells is the player used to provide Carleigh, Suffren, Sears, and possibly Hurst minutes off here and there. Should be a fun season with lots of wins and I’m looking forward to being at Cassell for many of these games. Go Hokies!

Do I think we can match the 45 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assists per game, and high energy and smart defensive play from last season provided by Baker, Nelson, Freelon, Daley, and Peterson this upcoming season with Sears, Latham, Hurst, Sufferen/Wells combo and Jenkins/Trent combo plus any others off the bench? Absolutely! Wenzel will get her 20 points and several assists and rebounds per game. We will definitely match what we had last season with what we have now in my opinion. However, I was hoping for one additional natural scorer to put us in the top three of the ACC! Maybe this player is already on the roster!? Go Hokies!

Very concerning that we have not been able to sign a big time playmaker and natural scorer two years in a row. Either we are limited on funding to entice such players, or players are just not interested in VT for whatever reason. We may never know the real answer but frustrating nonetheless because we were so close to being competitive with top ACC teams and just a game changing player or two away. Hopefully we can find at least one more consistent scorer for next season. Go Hokies!

David, do you expect to see additional players with starting potential introduced in the near future? Any insight as to why so many of the portal players able to make a difference day one chose other teams over VT? Is it all money in your opinion? Tennessee, West Virginia, UVA, etc. filled out rosters with portal additions and withdrawals from players I truly expected VT to bring on this offseason. I really like our additions, but there were so many game changing players available in this portal. There are still a few remaining in the portal but does not sound like we’ve had any visits recently. Go Hokies!

Players are now signing faster it appears.

Samyha may turn into a really solid all around player that takes over games next season. She will have to work on her defense (really fast but fouls too much with pressure on the ball) and find a way to create turnovers like Mac with drawing the charges and getting the ball back sometimes after she had missed a layup or 3 point attempt on her part which really seemed to push her defense to another level this past season. Samyha will need to focus on finding ways to allow her defense to present scoring opportunities and must finish easy layups and gimme's that were missed too many times by many players and not just her. She has another gear for speed that most don’t have and needs to use this to her advantage.

Why do we not play a bigger lineup against teams with so much length such as NC State? Less Mac and Wells on floor at same time as they just don’t bring enough to prevent the other team from scoring easily. Though we do need the assists and charges that Mac will create most games. Frustrating that Daley did not work out because we need that quickness and length. It’s what we are missing on this team right now. Rebounding and post player defense. ugh!
