Play Jax state in a regional in Hattiesburg, where Southern Miss is the top seed??? They LIMPED TO THE FINISH…we ran to the finish line. An absolute miscarriage of justice. Total BS.

Stuff but he’s inconsistent with his curve. He hangs it consistently….poof!!! Just not good fellas. You can feel it.

Both lacking in confidence and in poise. Both are lacking…these behaviors are then sinking into our performance across all areas of play.

Want to beat LSU or any good SEC team, you MUST play smart. Something is seriously up with our hitters. We aren’t being patient at the plate. We are basically swinging at anything near the plate. We aren’t taking enough pitches. We aren’t making the pitcher/s work for strikes. We are making it easy for LSU…and it’s basically our own fault. For the entire week. Since losing to FSU, a few things standout: - we are playing very tight as a team - we are playing with a lack of confidence…particularly our 2 key pitchers. - the batters seem equally teetering between the 2 above: both lacking confidence and being almost ‘anxious’ - Pete seems very frustrated and I think it’s sinking into the players performance.

Play better?!? Seriously, our hitters looked confused and they didn’t look too good yesterday either. Regardless, if Emma keeps pitching that way next time, season over

To ‘get it’….in essence, they work for VT, not the other way around. Not a very business minded set of bureaucrats. PS…I don’t live in the Burg’ but I’m tight with those who are in the know. They ‘know’ it’s (they) are a problem.

- we aren’t that good to begin with - we need to be constantly focused with consistent effort across all phases (hence coaching) - player and coaching leadership must be consistent game in and out….again, no let up. What we’ve seen this weekend is a reflection of each of the above not be adhered to. Even UNCG can make us look pedestrian at best….UNCG is middle of the pack in the SoCon, for what it’s worth.

Stuff was flat and right down the middle. Arm angle is way off and the ball is just sitting there. He needs some serious time in the lab with LOTS of film analysis

But we ultimately lost that game on a PB. Just an awful way to lose. Silver lining: Layton. We will need her during the regionals. Get Carrico healthy and let’s see what happens!!!

Infrastructure….coaching, staff, all of it. Need to do this with several programs, namely baseball, and basketball. Series, Ethan Ball (who I think is a budding star), left early on a fly ball, attempting to run to third. When he was called out (for leaving early) his reaction was that of disbelief…like he didn’t seem to understand that leaving the base before the fielder catches the ball is a no no. Today there were several examples of this….FUNDAMENTALS not being applied; missing the cut off man (2x), inability to get down a bunt….i could go on. Viewed in isolation, it wouldn’t be a concern. When applied collectively, one is left with the WTF moment again, and again. Cooke seems like a talented kid who gets complacent from time to time, but today’s mental error reeked of simultaneous ‘lack of effort, and nonchalant attitude’, which appears pervasive to me. I can’t think how this eventuality doesn’t come down to basic coaching skills, and setting the ‘tone’? Either way, something is missing.

New ways to lose games each and every season. No sense of urgency in many of the players, and we are losing games outright as a result of simply shooting ourselves in foot.

But I’ve never seen a guy get picked off 3rd as he walks with his back to the bag….absolutely pathetic

Mistakes were both mental (his lack of awareness) and coaching itself. Clearly, fundamentals aren’t being correctly installed.

The Prez doesn’t know what to do or how to proceed and if you think about it, there’s no upside in doing so either way. So, he (Sands) plays the string out. Getting the new Prez installed sooner (or the plan to do so conveniently released to the public), so we can move ahead with the new AD hire. The BOV plays a critical role here. I’m HOPEFUL they are on the cadence in terms of decision making, and the nuances of getting someone installed at the AD, asap. Finally, I’d be interested in your perspective: one thing I noticed during the Franklin press conference (when all the executive management was present) was the deflated, almost, ‘detached’ look Babcock had on his face during the entirety. He didn’t seem pumped or excited, just ho-hum. I took that as a sign of a man who knew what his future holds, which is no future. Maybe I misread that, but would be interested in knowing if you perceived it as such? Or anyone else’s perspective…

Retires, and Whit is given a swift boot out the door. Until then, things are going to stink to high heaven…Baseball, like several other teams within the program are horribly managed, from the top down.

We’ve had over the years….theres been quite a bit of talent that has walked through the halls of Jameson, et all….but I think we’ve been so underserved by some legitimately POOR, PISS POOR coaching and senior management. Its doesn’t matter which sport we are speaking of (with a few exceptions, wrestling, softball), but we major in stupidity. Seriously, from the top down, this is such a poorly managed operation, it’s downright embarrassing. This game is a microcosm of VT sports in general. Incredible opportunities to put the game away, but we just can’t manage it. Then the inevitable occurs, because you all knew it was coming boys….Stanford finally breaks through and not screw up enough to best an incompetently managed Hokies squad. From Whit on down, we are in a bad place and it’s going to take some time to fix it. I can’t even imagine what goes through Franklin’s head watching all of it play out. I know he’s going to fix Hokie Football and maybe end managing the entire operation when it’s all said and done….we can only hope. Until then, the pain and suffering will continue, and not just baseball. I think basketball is in the mid stage of full board implosion. Whit Babcock created this mess in his hires with his unadulterated incompetence. We can only hope football can resurrect this mess of a show until 2027 is upon us.

That tagging up requires you to wait for the fielder to catch the ball before you try to run to the next base….which he didn’t. He then complained to the ump about it….he clearly didn’t understand the rules regarding tagging up. This was on top of a few other head scratchers which occurred during the game.
