But you can certainly believe what you want. As I said previously, I think Tech is a very good school and it has loyal fans. All I’m saying is be careful what you wish for (the dissolution of the ACC)… it might not work out the way you think. There are a number of programs coming out of the ACC that are ahead of you in the pecking order… and, yes, of course they’re going to jump at the chance to make money and be in a more “prestigious” league. I agree with most everything you’ve said about UVA. But they are the flagship university of VA and are going to be much more coveted by both B10 and the SEC… it is what it is. And being the highly acclaimed university that they are, they are going to want to be in the B10. You can disagree with me, but anybody with any sense of impartiality will state the same. So it comes down to whether or not the SEC wants to cede the state of VA to the B10 and give a valuable spot in the league to Tech instead of, possibly, FSU, Clemson, Miami, etc. UNC/UVA and anyone else will definitely take the money and live with 7-8-9 win seasons (let’s be honest, for those schools, more like 4-5-6 wins), what I’m saying is, is that want you really want? Is that extra money worth not having a chance at a conference title? Or even being moderately competitive? UNC/UVA will be in the B10 at some point in the not too distant future. You’re delusional if you think otherwise. They don’t want the SEC. The cultural/academic fit is with the B10… and the B10 desperately wants in VA and NC. GT is a little more of a question mark, but there is no way a P2 conference is not going to want the Atlanta market (6th? 7th? In the country). Tech’s desirability is not what most of you think… again good school, good fanbase… but Charlottesville isn’t Atlanta or Raleigh/Durham or Miami or Tallahassee (or Pittsburgh for what it’s worth… top 25-30 media market). Does the SEC go after Clemson, FSU, Miami, NC State or Tech? You tell me…

If the link below is accurate, Tech’s viewership isn’t that great… there are a number of schools I mentioned that have more viewers. I really don’t have a school (went to small private school)…live in western PA, my kids went to Penn State and WVU. Raised as a Pitt fan. The Big 10 isn’t happening for you guys… the SEC is a possibility but would strictly be a countermeasure if B10 takes UVA. Why would you want to go P2 anyway and maybe, maybe, win 7-8-9 games in a good year. Heck, a school like Penn State is an afterthought in the B10 and soon to be further down the pecking order with Oregon and WU joining the conference. Same with the SEC. I’d rather have a chance to win a title in the B12 every so often… and just wait until the real NIL money starts kicking-in in the “P2”. All of this goes out the window if, as proposed, there’s a breakaway conference and they start paying players… but will it really change anything? I’m not a Tech fan, not a hater, but not a fan. I am, however, a fan of the ACC and enjoy reading the comments and following the discussions on these threads. The one thing I don’t understand in a lot of these is discussions is the heightened sense of value that a lot of fans have for Tech. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fine school academically but the chances of you ending up in a P2 conference aren’t as great as a lot of people think on this board. The in-demand schools, rightly or wrongly (and for some of them wrongly) are FSU, Clemson, Miami, UNC, UVA and GT (Atlanta). Other than those six, it’s really a crap shoot. Obviously wouldn’t fall any farther than the B12, but I think that’s the most realistic landing spot. Do you really bring anything more than say Pitt/Syracuse/NC State/Louisville does? Pitt/Syracuse at least have historical rivalries in the B10… which admittedly doesn’t mean much anymore. Tech’s glory days are now pretty far in the rear view mirror. And again, not saying that to be a d***. Personally, would love to see an eastern flank in the B12 of Tech, WVU, Pitt, Louisville and Cincy.

It seems pretty easy to “fix” the ACC. Pick-up six teams: Washington; Oregon; Stanford; Utah; Colorado; WVU. You create four pods of five teams: NORTH BC Syracuse Pitt WVU Louisville EAST UNC Duke Virginia Clemson Tech SOUTH Miami FSU Georgia Tech NC State Wake WEST Washington Oregon Stanford Utah Colorado You play each team in your pod every year and rotate through the pods annually. You play every team at least once every three years. The two highest ranked division winners play in the conference CG. This is definitely a doable scenario. The conference easily matches the B1G and comes pretty close to the SEC. Top tier teams of Clemson, FSU, Miami, Washington, Oregon, Utah… Second tier of Tech, WVU, Pitt, Louisville, NC State, Stanford…. That’s one helluva conference!
