Unless he's willing to work for free

VT will still have to play him a salary. One suspects that the buy out from being fired is a separate item. ** Edited by HokieinSD at 12/8/2025, 2:58:46 AM

Duke 🏈 sank Wahoos Haiku đŸ¤Ŗ

Duke is Duke, ain't so Whip them Hoos that cry boohoo đŸĨ˛ No playoff for you.. đŸ¤Ŗ

This is the way... to keep that Commonwealth Cup...

Run the ball attacking the edges, avoid running into their strength up the middle. Stretch the field horizontally, play to Drones strength. Methodically move down the field to score and keeping their offense off the field (if their offense stay off the field, who care about VT defense?). It's doable, not relying on good defensive play or a passing attack.

Yeah.. what's up with weak defense during his time here.

Some have indicated that it's the lack of top talents..., Maybe Pry had great support from Franklin and supporting staffs at Penn and Vandy but at VT he was basically in on his own, being over his head? ** Edited by HokieinSD at 11/19/2025, 9:09:58 PM

Yes... Think of their success over the years at Vandy & Penn.

Who wouldn't want a trusted friend (on top of being a decent person) that had work well for him... They are professional.

Used to feel that way about being left out... But not anymore because of.

12-team playoff format: * The CFP now includes five automatic qualifiers (AQs): the five highest-ranked conference champions, regardless of whether they're from Power Five or Group of Five conferences. *That means if a Mountain West team wins the conference and is ranked high enough by the CFP selection committee, they can earn an automatic spot. *Even if they don’t get an AQ, they can still be selected as an at-large team if their record and ranking are strong enough. Team that are not part of P2 or P4 can still get to the play off ....

For now... Coach Franklin will get VT back to winning more games

than in the last decade, so I think for most it's not a concern... Not a bridge too far yet. Hoping for his success, as he is a Hokies now. ** Edited by HokieinSD at 11/19/2025, 12:28:36 AM

Don't think that Franklin will be a bad hire... If he decide to come to VT.

If he is able to bring in good Coordinators and be effective in managing NIL and the transfer portal then he will be successful in the ACC, but question his ability to bring a NAT here at VT. One must keep in mind that Franklin that was fired because of failure in Big Games ( 4–21 record against AP top-10 teams, including a 1–18 mark against top-10 Big Ten opponents).. Betting the farm on him without sufficient funds (bridge and donor fundings are questionable) can be a scary proposition.

The fans that show up to the games...

Many have no affiliation with the school, mostly thugs like you said....

Miami Haiku... 🏈

Oh my goodness UM.. Up in smoke with Beck bad plays.. 💰💰 No Heisman for you .... ** Edited by HokieinSD at 10/17/2025, 11:27:47 PM

Coaches' agent big 💰 💰 ... Haiku

Show me the money... 💰💰 No mon no fun say the coach... 💰💰 Too bad so sad, coach... đŸ¤Ŗ

Those were the days Hokies.,,, So who and what next in 🏈

86 Peach bowl, first-ever bowl victory... 95 sugar bowl win with Druck. and Still over Texas...99 Nat. Championship against FSU with "lightning in a bottle"....2002 Randall win over Saban's LSU.... 2009 Tyrod last minute win over Nebraska... 2014 Brewer win in Columbus over Buckeyes... It has been ~1.5 decade since landing a conference championship trophy. For the next hire, which option? OPTION 1 : Traditional Structure 1. Whit away from 🏈, maintain current status quo for other sport programs. 2. Hire the next HC and let him brings the help that he needed (best chance to get a big time seasoned HC, most would want full control). HC report to school president or his appointee, in the interim. 3. Hire the next AD... Let Whit go. All programs report to new AD OPTION 2: NFL Structure? 1. Whit away from 🏈, maintain current status quo for other sport programs. 2. Hire new GM . GM report to the school president or his appointee 3. New GM hires next HC. HC reports to GM. 4. Hire new AD to over see other sport programs. Say adios to Whit. OPTION 3: Hybrid Structure 1 Same as option 2, However, GM and HC are equal reporting to president or his appointee It's a crapshoot... Moi, stuck on tradition, I choose Option 1 with a HC such as Dan Mullen. What say you???

Think he more effective with Zone read offense..

Play to his strenght ... But OL is like dragging the anchor... ** Edited by HokieinSD at 10/11/2025, 4:52:37 PM ** Edited by HokieinSD at 10/11/2025, 5:09:56 PM

NO NO NO...

Run up the gut, then run left, and then right... repeat after that!!! LOL

Stanford is a well funded Academic Institution...

Also has the prestige... beyond Athletic.. Family member of employee, I believe get free tuition if they choose to attend there.

What did Pry in was no 4 , not winning close games.

His hiring seems a good decision at the time.... A nice guy, but just not HC success.

Yeah QB is important.. lumping that in no 5

Players need football IQ and don't need prawny ones... The head guy should make that a priority.

A simple minded HC search checklist.... Easy peasy for success.

1. The guy should have HC experience or a big time coordinator. 2. Have a vision for his staff to carry out his scheme and philosophy. 3. Keep up with the time... NIL & the portal recruitment 4. Have in game situation awareness and clock management leadership 5. Stay on top of player development and their strength & conditioning 6. An effective communicator.. inspire players and the fan base. Just pay me $1 and I'll help with the search committee cause I'm retired techie now and have plenty of time on my hands.. And I'm not going to worry about play off. Play off ??? No play off, oke doke.. đŸ¤Ŗ

Bud recommended Pry.. How did that work out?

And was he also involved with the hiring of Justin? Has Bud been a HC before??? That doesn't diminished his contribution as a DC coordinator here at VT, but that quite almost decades ago that he was involved in football at a high level.

Unless Rocovich is a mega donor.....

He is just 1 of 3 vote. The 8 members committee, IMO, is a joke with exception of Bruce A. When searching for HC the people involved should have high football IQ and HC experience at a high level.

When you are searching for a football HC...

You should have people that have high football IQ and HC experience to be involved. You not hiring an AD or GM by a committee. When you are hiring a HC, you don't want to same people that have done a poor job of it before to make a decision... ** Edited by HokieinSD at 10/4/2025, 12:43:12 AM

HC hiring Haiku... đŸ¤Ŗ 💩

Committee of one... đŸ¤Ŗ Hiring two no football, Whit ???? đŸ¤Ŗ FUBAR at it best... 💩 ** Edited by HokieinSD at 10/3/2025, 6:14:16 PM

Too many chiefs in the teepee doesn't mean success....

On top of throw a bunch of money at it..... Having a competent HC and AD will do wonder for the program. Bigger doesn't get better, IMO.

All giddy with the future of athletic... Haiku

Just keep it simple... Too many chiefs in teepee... No funds no future...

VT lack the talent and depth... and questionable coaching staff.

Afraid that it will be ugly moving forward for remaining of 2025 with conference play.

Agree... Elliot was an OC with two National Championships at Clemson.

He knows the X's and O's... And now start to build momentum as a HC upward trending. Such a contrasts when compare with Pry.

Agree... Very questionable for now where funding is coming from

It may be more about hiring the competent people that can execute their football vision starting with a HC and his staff. Having a top down bloated organizing is just wishful thinking, IMO. ** Edited by HokieinSD at 9/27/2025, 4:12:08 PM

Agree... Once the rose-colored glasses are off.

Football landscape is changing... tougher time ahead it seems. ** Edited by HokieinSD at 9/27/2025, 1:00:00 AM
