Posting History (92)

Andy Reid never won the big game with the Eagles…

And was labeled that way too by the media. Now take a look at what has happened. Just saying!

Do you know that for certain?

Historically that’s not what we have done so that would be a massive shift in the right direction.

Maybe - this hire is bigger than just getting someone

I 100% guarantee you based on the presser for the new commitment to funding is not just about our next coach…it’s about positioning VT to be P2 and that will take us showing that we are willing to go to battle with the big boys for a big boy hire and/or commit the resources. I like Chesney and if it’s him I expect us to back him with a LOT of resources like we have never seen before and potentially bring people like MV1 in to boost excitement/recruitment/etc. But taking Franklin off the table before end of season and beating out SEC teams for him sends a different kind of message as to how committed we are.

Zero chance of that happening

The announcement to a commitment for funding was not just smoke and mirrors… Being prominent again in football is beneficial to the entire university and everyone for the first time in a while seems to be on the same page with that. I suspect it’s actually more along the lines of us giving whoever we are offering a LOT of say and flexibility to attract the right candidates. Another failed Pry experiment would send VT toward irrelevant and make it difficult for us to ever catch up which again affects the entire university. Don’t be surprised if when all the dust settles, the funding commitment we made, and VTs reputation as a university potentially lands us into the SEC or BIG as the ACC sunsets.

Unpopular opinion - Fu was a good hire who was never given the resources

To succeed and then we doubled down on being cheap with Pry. Getting a strong hire now is going to require substantial change and investment because we have had 2 shots at it since Beamer and didn’t commit the resources the first time, cheaped out with a Hail Mary the second time. It could be a good thing though - whoever comes in will have substantial leverage to get things they want and with the right hire that can get us back on track faster than most realize.

Fire Pry bring in Vick

Circle of life for what sparked the program.

Attrition should always be looked at top down

So I don’t agree - people don’t leave jobs just for $$ they start looking because they are unhappy with leadership, direction of their growth, ability to get to the next level, ability to win/succeed. Sure in the end money can talk, but it rarely if ever starts there and I suspect there are some major issues with Pry/his staff from those departing. The level of departure and number of people sitting out should be a huge red flag for where VT is headed.

He was unproven and should have been coaching for his job this year

We can thank our genius AD for that. Unproven coaches should not have the luxury of huge buyouts. I suspect complete overhaul (HC, AD) in 2026, but that might be too late in this changing NIL landscape.

Anyone else all of a sudden missing Fuente?

Seems he was right the problems run much deeper than the HC (cough Whit). To his credit he called VT (Whit) on it and then was run out of town. Not sure that was a coincidence. Pretty sure with this team’s talent under someone like Fu we would have had very different outcomes. Troubling times and I don’t think it gets any better in 2025 - I suspect Whit is done after 2025, which leaves the door open for a new AD, revamping to compete in an NIL landscape and potentially bringing MV1 back as a figurehead style HC to jump start that in 2026 as part of that assuming he shows some success this year.

ACC replay booth time again!

Time to save Miami! ** Edited by ECEHokie2011 at 10/19/2024, 3:24:09 PM

Food for thought if you are Pry

And you know you are at the time 1-9 in 1 possession games… Then why would you not take the points that would you know give you the ability to keep the game a 2 score game… Is it rocket science?

Miami is not nearly as good as their ranking suggests

FL is the only real “win” they have and this is not the FL of norm

1-10 in 1 Possession games

Seems he has a lot of poor judgement calls to get there. Defend him - but he is our Mike London

Game was lost by Pry

If we had competent clock management we are up 2 after the Miami TD 3 Points on the squib 3 Points from the fake FG FINAL SCORE - 40-38 VT And that’s what really hurts and that’s how you get to 1-10 in 1 possession games.

Maybe the issues run deeper than the HC

And Fu was made a villain/scapegoat by our fanbase without really understanding how “bad “bad” actually is and where it stems from ** Edited by ECEHokie2011 at 9/21/2024, 8:05:59 PM
