I know one of the candidates who should’ve gotten the nod over Sands…
Dr. Jerry Strawser, who was my Financial Accounting instructor (tough but fair in grading, and very personable). Also Dean Emeritus of the Mays Business School. was
“Professor Strawser served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Texas A&M University from 2014-2021. In this role, he oversaw a budget of over $2 billion as well as the various non-academic operating units of the University.”

His father was an accounting professor at UVA and VT, so he grew up in Hooville and The Burg. He would’ve made a much better VT President. Culturally and financially.

I was spoiled by my undergrad years, in hindsight
VT ‘10. Nowadays, I wouldn’t fault the youth for dismissing me as some foolish old man for talking about the “Good Ol Days” of Hokie Football.
Pry is 0-6 against Vanderbilt, Duke, and Rutgers.
Babcock and Pry give me no confidence or reason to continue to financially support the program. I hope they prove me wrong, but that is very unlikely.

My expectations for this football program have been low since '18
When we win, it's a tad more enjoyable that way.
It all starts and ends with ADWB. His lack of taking the initiative, and only reacting to situations, has put us in a hole.
TAMU does not lack for resources. They also gave me cause to donate and join the 12th Man Foundation, as they engage with the fanbase.
I cannot say the same for any number of paltry efforts from Blacksburg and the Hokie Club. I even donate to Triumph NIL, but feel it is all in vain. Too little, too late.
7-5 or 8-4 are meeting expectations. Losing to Vandy, will be unacceptable this year. I am expecting us to take Ls from the Canes and Noles.

Nov. 2016 @ Notre Dame.
Jerod and so many others needed more incentives to be kept on the roster, IMHO. Then again, a better 2017 might have resulted in CJF staying even longer...

OT: I have Hoo cousin, whose twins were both waitlisted @ Tech for the fall
Fairfax County PS for their K-12 years, and their mother (my 1C) went to Robinson HS before her undergrad studies in and TAMU from her postgrad. Their father and I, have fun back n forth banter about VT vs UVA.
Having been born and raised in the West End of Henrico (another superb school system), I too wonder if I could now get in?
VT is quickly giving me less and less reasons to not cut them off from all my donations. I hail from a VMI and UVA-heavy extended family. Beamer Ball and that wonderful, beautifully scenic campus were the main reasons I became a rebel. Alumni relations from VT, are sorely lacking compared to many other peer schools.

I wish the same was true in Blacksburg, unlike the current leadership.

much of the past decade, I’ve felt LU has a better Athletic Dept.
It’d be nice to see our revenue sports become respectable again.
