Posting History (169)

Keep in mind that we started on the back 9 which has been much harder.

We were jumped by Xavier and KSt; but they are both playing on the front 9. As the day wears on we will likely move back ahead of them. The immediate challenge is to get back ahead of Ole Miss and into 5th. Ole Miss is 3 stokes better than us so far today; and ahead by 2 strokes for the tourney. ** Edited by 86TechHokie at 5/13/2026, 10:43:17 AM

That TO by Miami after 1st down was a coaching blunder. With only 2 time

outs you use them after 2nd and then again after 3rd IF and only IF 2nd down goes in your favor. That gave OSU more time and extra plays.

Wow … Rechsteiner with seven 3-pointers and was the high scorer in CSU’s

win over the Shockers. Nice bounce back for him. And the win helps us. Glad he wasn’t on last night or we would have lost.

I saw that. Geez, I guess they know nothing about college football. The

category was β€œTech Schools” and the question was β€œHokies know that Ut Prosim means That I May Serve at this Blacksburg university.”

Just remembered about the game and saw the score (3-1). Then noted that CM

was at bat and said out loud … β€œSoon to be be 5-1”. And literally 2 seconds later it refreshed to 5-1 !!! She is so predictable !!! Haha

Poteat’s trip-slip-slip was pretty bazar looking. I guess he left quite a

layer of sweat on the floor from the initial fall and then slipped in it twice as he tried to get up. Sorta reminded me of some of the slipping that can occur in venues that out the court over top an ice rink.

I predict those front row fans that got up and walked out after the banker

at the buzzer won’t be back for the second half. They looked like β€œI’m done!”

And now a 2nd TD pass. I know it is mop up duty, but he is making the right

reads, passes are sharp and right on the money and his pocket presence is superb. The commentators gave him some love as well noting how well he is playing. It was also nice to see the Bills fans applaud when they announced β€œTyrod Taylor now in the game”. And the camera caught Tyrod and the Bills coach McDermit exchange pleasantries after the 2nd TD pass. A nice homecoming for TT.

Imagine if a couple years ago I said the first FBS playoff will include

the SEC champ Texas, the Big 10 champ Oregon, the ACC champ SMU and the Big 12 champ Arizona State. No one would have believed that. Crazy that all the league champs could be new members. Also, Army won the AAC championship in its first year in the league last night.

Happened to catch the 4th quarter. Didn’t look like UK had anyone who

could drive and score. Their points were almost exclusively set shots beyond the arc. UNC looked really good and had attackers for sure. Amore looked passive to me, really didn’t look to assert herself offensively. But most of all … Georgia and Clara definitely look way better in maroon !!! They looked gross in blue !!! IT WAS THE CLIP MAN'S FAULT !!! I saw some of the discussion below about

the "9-yard first down" and decided to go back and look at the tape. Ends up that the error occurred because the clip man forgot to move the clip. The "clip" is attached to the chain at one of the yard lines (i.e. 20, 25, 30, and so on). Its sole purpose is to correctly reposition the rods in the event they get displaced (or taken out on the field to do a measurement). There is a "clip man" whose job is to correctly move the clip each time there is a first down and the chain is moved downfield. Well ... he forgot to do so; and therefore we only had to go 9 yards to get the first down. Here's how it happened: - After a touchback Tech takes possession of the ball at the 25. - The next play Tuten runs down the sideline for 41 yards. You can see him run right past the clip which is correctly attached at the 30-yard line (the clip has an orange flag attached so you can usually see it when a play occurs along the sideline). - The chain is moved downfield. The "rear rod" is on the 34 and the "forward rod" is at the 24. - The next play is a pass to the tight end who is tackled along the sideline displacing the chain/rods and he also moved the mat a bit as well. If you watch the play closely you can see the TE run past the clip which is at the 29 !!!. It was not properly moved to the yard line closest to the rear rod which should have been the 30-yard line; it was left midway between the poles and therefore was incorrectly located at the 29. - After the play the chain crew picks up the chain/rods and you can actually see the clip man looking at the clip a little confused and probably wondering if he had forgotten to move it as he should had. In any event they end up resetting the rods based on the clip; so now Tech only needs to get to the 25 for a first down. Thus only 9 yards were needed to pick up the first down. ** Edited by 86TechHokie at 10/28/2024, 11:21:06 AM

Yep. Noticed the old uni yesterday and knew that they would get some calls

on that. I looked for it first thing today and noticed it had been updated. Good job to those who let them know.

Honestly, we could go get (buy) a couple championships next year if we

wanted to. In this day of NIL we could just buy a championship. Pick any team sport that actually is not played as a team but as individual contests like tennis or golf. Offer ridiculous NIL amounts to lure the top players from other schools. In tennis, golf etc. you don’t have to change anything but the logo on your shirt. Your game doesn’t change at all. With the best nucleus of talent just go out and do your thing and bring back the trophy. I’m convinced we will see some schools come out of nowhere (no history of success in the sport) to win it all due to crazy NIL payments. ** Edited by 86TechHokie at 5/18/2024, 10:34:10 PM ** Edited by 86TechHokie at 5/18/2024, 10:35:24 PM ** Edited by 86TechHokie at 5/18/2024, 10:36:07 PM ** Edited by 86TechHokie at 5/18/2024, 10:36:41 PM ** Edited by 86TechHokie at 5/18/2024, 10:37:38 PM
