I agree

Ran it back as well...no worse than a tie, and that goes to the runner.

Absence of Kate!

This is an opinion I've been forming in the last few weeks. If we had Kate playing, she would have been seeing action early this year and perhaps meaningful minutes in the later half of the year. From what I've gathered; she is a player and also can hit the 3. JMO, but I think she could have been the difference in 1-2 of our close loses in February. Another outside threat would mean Baker, Wenzel and a 3rd option to open up inside game more for Freelon. But, this is just pure speculation for a pre-game Sunday. Go Hokies!

Clock operation at Cassell.

If I am not mistaken, we have had clock issues in about the last 6 or 7 men's games in Cassell. Is this the operator of the clock? Is this a technical glitch with our equipment. Whatever it is, money should be spent or whatever testing, etc. Absolutely ridiculous...end rant

Oh my goodness!!

I am struggling to define what we are doing in these games with 7-15 point leads down the stretch. Maybe AI or well known strategies of letting the air out of the ball with the clock on your side and running the shot clock down...but daggone it for this team that is NOT working. If we beat the press go ahead and shoot the ball...the guys seem to lose confidence and the whole system, and tenor of the game goes to hell. I was thinking when there were 4 fouls called in the 2nd half with 18:07 left on the clock, and then 2 more before 17 minutes...the 2nd second half would be controlled by the refs...and it was....I'm not saying one way or another, but the game just slowed to a crawl...the refs should stop with ticki tack fouls and when GT flops don't automatically blow the whistle...I'm sure there coach was orchestrating that too....Just ticked off about this game.

re: personnel in late game situation

Really think Jailen Bedford should be in with Hammond and Shutt. JMO

Question for anyone 'in the know'

Did the athletic dept. 'pinch' pennies when it comes to NIL and the women's basketball? Or for that matter, any/all the women's sports?

I am 100% with you on LED lights...bother my eyes and should be a hard NO.

On all the piped in music, I despise that as well but it may be too late to reel that in.

Quite a game

There behind a basket halfway up as well. Game was incredible. Bimbo with 51 and Wally 39. Southern Miss kept answering our scores and by the 2nd OT I distinctly remember the crowd was totally gassed...sound level went way down to to spectator exhaustion...I've never been to a game quite like that one. OH, was also there to see Alan Bristow score 52 in a game in 72'-73'. Two highest scores in Hokie hoops history.

Offensive game plan

As I watched this pitching duel it didn't take me long to notice all the first pitch strikes that we took in this game. That must have been the strategy, and it seemed to last into all our 2nd plate appearances as well. There were plenty right down the pike strikes I thought we would start going for it the 2nd time through the order. Anyone notice that....not in the strategy but dropping it for the 2nd run through our order for more aggression at the plate. JMO

Did a little research as I was curious about McMillan

Well, she has been the leadoff hitter in the last 31 games. She is 15-25 for a .600 average with 6 walks. So on base percentage would be .677, not too shabby for the first batter in the games. Also, which is mind blowing for me is 9 lead off home runs, 4 of which came in the last 6 games. MY GOSH! Way to go, girl.

Some, like me; use the live stats and it's not working tonight.

Could someone tell us score and inning and big picture....bases loaded/something big happening. Any info is appreciated. Thx

More thoughts

I totally agree with your assessment. Great season. I was thinking last night about the team and what could have provided 3-4 more wins this season and came up with Taylor Soule, a bonafide 'junkyard' dog. Her addition would totally change what we have done this season. In general, our defensive issues I would attribute mainly to lack of foot speed. We have been consistently beaten off the dribble from the perimeter....all it takes is a half step and the opponents control the drive/contact and the ability to score or dish for a score. I do love this team, and we have a bright future. Go Hokies!

Is Peterson injured?

Haven't seen her in the stats column since first half, and wondering?

Emma's decision on going to second prior to Addie's homer

She has hit the ball in the gaps all year and has never been thrown out at 2nd....and I think she would have made it this time as well...but fences are 10' closer at UCLA and they got a great bounce off the wall and that was it. I am micromanaging here but with shorter fences things were not quite the same...oh well.

OK...rant on color announcer

Haven't been on the board. OK, Emma walked those two players to start their comeback...but the runs for the most part were scored on two incredibly high bouncers in the infield and the blooper over our shortstop. But the annoucer was burying us in her comments before our last inning..... And I know the 'law of averages' and baseball being goofy at times, but we have been tagging there pitchers all game and no mention of that...... Feel we still need to win this one and we can... p.s. liked that the ump after the shot clock put our runner on and the pitcher was fussing about it...he called the next pitch which was right down the middle a ball...that'll teach 'em.

FSU ND

I had to step away for dinner but had the game on muted. An ND player stole second and was called safe...did they send it to replay? I saw two angles and the girl was safe and it wasn't even close. Tell me they didn't overrule and call her out. If they did, then the fix is in for FSU for whatever reason. Help me out...Thx

Mid-ACC schedule opinion

I've been watching the girls for the last 3-4 years, and have fallen in love with the VT softball team/program. With that said, and the non-conference and now the ACC halfway through; I think we have a limited ceiling this year unless some not so subtle changes happen. It involves our pitching staff. Teams are teeing off on all 3 of our primary pitchers with not much variance in their offerings to the plate. Rise with some movement sometimes, but off speed is scarce or non-existent. A nice solid team but I have trouble seeing us climbing to a higher ceiling at this time. Opinions, etc.?? ** Edited by 133178Hokie at 4/5/2024, 8:14:30 PM

Q regarding timing of ticket sales versus date/time of VT sessions

Difficult to purchase tickets at 10am or 12noon tomorrow when the dates/times of games at Cassell are released later. Anybody in ticket office or Hokie club or Techsideline staff that can shed light on this? Thx ** Edited by 133178Hokie at 3/17/2024, 9:02:19 PM

What I need is start time info for both games Friday, and Sunday start time

This is pertinent for a lot of people planning trips to the 'Burg'. Any help from anybody plugged in at Tech now? Thanks.

On the other hand

I noticed the same thing, but to be fair, I noticed several pitches from the Volunteers that were right down the middle called balls, as with VT. I think a few times both catchers were not exactly behind the plate and that seemed to mess the ump up..jmo

Curious question from me on the pitches

Once I get an answer I promise I will move on. What was the 3rd base coach for FSU doing during all these illegal pitches? Was that coach in the umpire's ear the whole time? Did our bench notice any verbal interaction to and from the coach/umpire? Did our 3rd baseman hear anything? Again, just curious. TIA
