It's March 24, and Virginia Tech women's basketball is still dancing.
The Hokies knocked off Penn State in the third round of the WNIT on Thursday night by a score of 64-55, thanks to a balanced scoring effort and stout second quarter. Five Virginia Tech players finished in double figures, with Chanette Hicks scoring a team-high 13 points. Samantha Hill and Vanessa Panousis scored 12 points, while Sidney Cook and Kendyl Brooks scored 11 a piece.
The second period proved to be Penn State's downfall. The Nittany Lions scored just four points in the quarter, while allowing 17 points. Virginia Tech took a 37-17 lead into halftime and held off Penn State for the rest of the game.
Virginia Tech women's basketball will play Michigan in the Elite Eight on Saturday at 2 p.m. The game will be played in Ann Arbor.
