Well before he flipped his commitment to Virginia Tech on Dec. 1, Patriot (Va.) four-star linebacker Mathieu Lamah was well acquainted with the Hokies. By his estimation, he’s been to Blacksburg seven times for visits, including camps and games.
Lamah committed to Penn State on May 5. But after James Franklin was fired as the Nittany Lions’ coach in October, Lamah opened up his recruitment. He took official visits to Rutgers, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, but it was his familiarity with the Hokies and Franklin that led him to flip and sign his financial aid agreement with them Dec. 3.
