Drones gives 110% every game. You have to respect him for that. He is not a great passer but he does not give up. Passing is just not his best forte. He won the game for us last week. Would love to see us get a good qb in the portal

We're gonna mess around with Franklin, he's going to wait until the last minute to say "NO", and we'll miss out on all the other decent option. We wind up hiring another, more expensive, Brenton James Pry. This would be so like the VT Athletic Dept.

Virginia Tech has told James Franklin and Jimmy Sexton that they (Virginia Tech) are going to move on to other candidates if they (VT) don't get an answer soon. VERY soon.
That doesn't mean they're crossing Franklin off their list. They're just going to move on to vetting/interviewing other candidates, and they're going to move the process along.

I heard this morning that Auburn told Sexton they're going in another direction, so maybe that moves up Franklin making his decision soon.

It’s not like Tech is holding a strong hand…..the only coaches they can get a commitment from are those without jobs. Franklin likely the only one out there Tech would want.

Chris, in describing Franklin's personality, it reminded me a lot of Seth Greenberg. Difficult at times and wasn't buddy-buddy with the good ole boys in Jamerson. He was, however, a good HC.
Am I off on this? I agree, a hire like Franklin would shake the Athletic Dept. up like it's needed for 20 years!

I’m tired of graveling of trying to get the BEST coach. What do we choose from? Ten to thirteen coaches who have been fired? Then we say: well he’s the best of the lot who haven’t succeeded?

1. We played a team that will likely be in the ACC championship game (and maybe the CFP) pretty well until 5 minutes left in Q4. Pretty damn good.
2. We lived deep in SEC country for 28 years. With regard to Coach Franklin, it really comes down to what HE wants. There is zero difference in the openings at UF, Auburn and LSU. They are all SEC programs that require winning championships by year 2 or you are GONE, and the donor interference is toxic. If he is looking for an easy path to the CFP, its not in the SEC. If that is the case(?) he probably would look at VT or FSU... (which oddly has no money to buy out their coach).
3. Not sure where this goes. Maybe VT is better off with Chesney in the long run (2030 when the ACC dissolves.. as we know it)

I don't care what his personality is. I don't care if he was born in VA, has no ties to Frank Beamer, or listens to the Allman Bros. All I care about is WINS and him getting VT back to being relevant in college football. That said you are correct he would be a completely different guy from what has been the norm in Blacksburg.

It’s not rocket science and it’s not all on the O-line. Drones has had time and opportunities to make a pass. Where are the screens and draws that a coach would use to slow down a pass rush? Yeah the WRs have had some drops but they rarely get opportunities to make a play in must have situations. I’ll be so happy when we have competent coach and a QB that can excute again…one of these days.

I seemed that Ayden Greene also had some struggles yesterday but they may have been from poorly thrown balls or miscommunication or option C. I don’t have a replay this week so I am not sure.
Until the Donovan Greene drop I too had hope. Then not.
It was cool to see a punt block and see the team play well for a quarter. Felt like old times for a little while.

Hard to critique any wr when you run that many times against cal and louisville. Ayden greene is doing little. Spencer? Why would a wr want to be in this offense? Wiggins and adams are probably glad they are not wasting a year doing nothing . Until we have a balanced offensive mindset, we waste WRs. And TEs. Ane even drones can hit a TE if a play is called.

easy to critique a WR who does not catch a ball that hits him in the hands….most guys get 4 targets a game. make them count if you want more. any WR at any level has to catch a ball that hits them in the hands. youth flag football 5-6 year olds included. no excuses, and directly led to a loss.
