   While I FEEL the same as Coleman, I think your emotions are getting the better of you. What did Pry have to work with when he came here? Low funding, poor reputation, and no head coach experience. But things are looking up: 1. We are finally working on funding (I hope). 2. Pry is noticeably succeeding rebuilding relationships with high schools, past players, current players, fan base, etc... but it takes time. 3. He now has head coach experience and here we are with a new staff and a nearly complete rebuild of the players. The expectations for the beginning of the season should have been very low. Instead, our expectations should be that we are a better team by the end of the season with much lower player/coach turnover. Now that Pry has experience and a reputation, I believe that when the funding comes through he will have a much better pool of coaching staff to choose from (BUT it will take even more patience). OR Once the funding comes through we can try to buy a team that already has experience and reputation like Indiana (but this is no guarantee).

   What is the ETA of getting the comment section fixed. Unfortunately, if it had to happen then if should have happened in the Spring or Summer not in the football season. I realize it was not a planned event and that you all are working diligently to get it fixed. Thanks Chris for this article, it has been building inside you for a long time but you were holding out hope before printing this article. However, this was a perfect time for you to come forward as my die hard Hokie friends have been there for a long time. Pry is a great guy, but not a great coach. Simple watch Pry on the sideline during the game Saturday vs the Vanderbilt coach or even vs Shane Beamer last week. No emotion!! You guys at TSL are SUPER!!!

   I didn't even bother to watch the 4th qtr. I'm done. Babcock must go. Pry is in over his head. Nice guy, likeable but like Mike London @ UVA, not up to the job. The body language of the 2-QB's told the tale. we are in a very bad place..

   I was in the class ot 1953 and can tell you what sad athletic programs LOOKS like. We just Did not win many games in any sport. I supported " VPI " and I will continue to support Va Tech. This is becoming a world class university in research and will before I meet my maker, become excellent in athletics in spite of that horrible thing called NIL. EDGAR {Kinny ) Kinnier

   Good article... the game was ugly. I will say there are plenty of teams that have less money than VT are putting a better product on the field than us. This game feels like it was 90% coaching. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing in the 2nd half.

   Hell Yeah Chris! It has taken some time for someone to write this article. I have been asking for years for the truth to be printed. I agree, it is sad, Pry might be good guy, but a leader for this team he is not. Unless he could change over night. Big big disappointment on Saturday, and doing what, being left with the same questions: A. Offense can not move the ball, no running the ball ability. Drones, is not a good decision maker, it is been proven over and over again. Offensive Cord? What? You mean you can not get Drone under center and get 1 freaking yard? B. Defensive Cord? What? You mean you can not make adjustments and stop the Option run? Why do we have issues stopping it? We have always had issues, Georgia Tech could eat our lunch at times with Option. C. Where is the so called "conditioning" Second half we were gassed and barely saw the freaking ball or got off the field on defense. (so much for that working either!) D. Yes, I am mad, I am sad, and you are right, I spend tons and tons of money on this University to settle for less than Mediocre quality in Football and Men's Basketball and I a little worried we will spiral on Women's Basketball as well. Some of these fans on here, would bark and complain about someone being negative and not supporting the Hokies. Damn it I have supported, I buy, I pay, I have a right to be pissed. Just like millions of Americans can be pissed about the Boeing situation. You can not cut corners.

    I've been a Golden Hokie a long, long time. I have had season tickets (good ones) for a long, long time. I have traveled to LSU, Nebraska and Ohio State. I went to Charlotte and Jacksonville for all the ACC Championship games. I went to New Orleans for the National Championship and Auburn Sugar Bowl games and to many other bowl games. I am 71 years old. I don't dislike Pry, I think he's a great guy, but he's not going to solve this. I will be forever grateful to Whit for Mike Young and all the great Olympic coaching hires. That being said, he and Whit have to go or our brand will continue to spiral downward. You can see it when national figures like Chris Fowler, Rece Davis and others mention Virginia Tech. It seems it almost pains them to talk about the depths to which we have fallen. I will probably stop my season football tickets (2 1/2 hour drive, one way). At my age it will be too late for me to see the turn around (if we have one) from this debacle. Tech had a great football run. It can have another if the right things and people happen, but it will most likely take a long time. I will reevaluate my giving, maybe trying to target it to basketball or Olympic sports, but it will be less than what I have been doing. With dropping season tickets and less athletic giving it's money the athletic department won't have. Many of the fans I see at the games look to be 55 or older and I suspect are thinking the same things I am saying. If we all cut back it will get peoples' attention. Some may say that now is the time to give more. I disagree. I ran my own business and I didn't see the logic for pouring more money into something that wasn't working and clearly our current situation at Tech isn't working. I love Virginia Tech. I always will. It gave me everything I have had in life. It was hard for me to listen to a Vanderbilt fan behind me at the game screaming at the top of his lungs what a buffoonery our football team had become. The SOB season ticket holder who sold him his ticket should be banned for life from Tech football games. It really makes me sad. I am getting angry towards Sands and the BOV. Tech has to fix this quickly, really quickly. My two cents.

    Chris … great article…. A good encapsulation of all of our tiredness, sadness, and lostness. BUT… (and I’m not saying the same thing is going to happen.. absolutely NOT saying that)… I think it would be interesting to read an article comparing where the program, fanbase, administration, etc was in 1995 coming off a 16-0 shellacking at home by Cincinnati). I remember it well… and my doubts were equally strong then. Would you or Andy be willing to take a stab at that. Honestly, I just need some hope right now!! Thanks.

    OMG!! Easily the best article you've done in a long time..You are a journalist in the true sense of the word. It shows you can be a fan reporter without being a HOMER!! I remember back when we played Tennessee, I commented here that it was great playing a quality teams from the SEC and Big Ten every so often. But we should be playing more of the bottom-feeders like Purdue and Vanderbilt.... Now we would wish to be Vanderbilt!!

    Keeping up with your theme - "It's Time". My question is why has Sands kept WB around so long when most have known that he was part of the problem for a few years now? I have my suspicions but would like to know your thoughts. Now Sands has put himself, and more importantly VT athletics, in a tough spot of having to get both a new AD and a new football coach at the same time.

    Thanks for this article. My post on the Member Board said this same thing with less-eloquent wordsmithing. AD and HC should’ve been gone after the bowl game. But they took the lazy easy way out. That 8-Month siesta making nice with BP and WB (and JB) will end up adding at least 2 years to the process. Sadly, I’ve lost faith that Sands & Co have the ability to make these hires. We’ve degraded to UVa in football. But they have a bunch of multi-sport Natties. We don’t have any. Our Athletic Department is so freaking poor.

    I'd recommend you review The Heritage Foundation report on DEI in major US universities (https://www.heritage.org/education/report/diversity-university-dei-bloat-the-academy) to see where VA Tech's focus lies. Table 1 ranks Tech 5th in the number of DEI personnel on the payroll. The heck with the athletic department. We have more important things to do.

    Chris, It’s hard to take as a VT fan and the total fan base. It’s going to be a tough task, but major changes need to happen in the VT Athletic Department. I believe the Rector of the VT BOV needs to privately meet with a selected panel comprised of BOV Board members and go over all options for Athletic Department personnel changes, ASAP. I know the Rector of the VT BOV is a very large donor and a passionate fan. I spoke with a Big donor today and he’s knows things have to change and change as soon as feasibly possible. As in the Corporate World change happens and it doesn’t take long, especially if it affects the bottom line, losing market share, losing per share value, losing customers, etc. Key word here is Losing and VT FB and the VT Athletic Department is Losing.

    I've had season tickets for 61 years; have supported the program through tough times and enjoyed some good times. Last night was the worst collapse probably in VT history, maybe in NCAA football. Then you can't get out of lot 1 for an hour, drive for 3 hours in rain to get home. how can i be fired up about coming back to see ODU Sat night? The way we finished last night, we can't beat anyone left on the schedule. Winning 6 games this year would be a miracle. You are right: we fans deserve better!

    Fantastic
