Kyron Drones and the Virginia Tech offense weren't efficient against South Carolina on Sunday. (Ivan Morozov)
ATLANTA — This is a reactionary sport in reactionary times in a make-or-break Hokies season, so forgive the sweeping nature of these generalizations after Virginia Tech’s closer-than-the-score-indicated 24-11 loss to No. 13 South Carolina on Sunday, but urgency is required.

After seeing California and Miami play this weekend I think your prediction of 7-5 is at risk.

Great summation for a game that was there for the taking...

Pry won’t be fired but he should be. He’s the absolute most mediocre…

It looked to me as if there are too many of our good opponents who have a few more fast players on D than we have on O. I saw a SC LB run down one of our wideouts as he tried to get away, running toward the left boundary, and the LB closed very quickly. Yes, a LB was faster than our wideouts. It just seems like we are just a few players short of enough players with top speed. And it is sad to see our special teams give up a TD because gunners slowed down. And after a GUNNER LINED UP INCORRECTLY! Very sad.

I hate that we have 4 years of PTSD with these mistakes but it is what it is. All in all this team looks better. Better and deeper. But this is why college football needs a preseason game. Forget about the spring game. P4 vs G5. Around early August would really help get teams iron out bugs and settle on personell especially with the last transfer portal coming around May. Makes for great TV and breaks up the 8-month dead period of no college football. Schools are still closed so makes it a great time to get more community folks to attend a game they otherwise can’t or won’t afford.
