With the spring semester starting next week, this will most likely be my last transfer portal article of this window. Virginia Tech has essentially added all it can for the time being, and as far as I know, it is waiting on the decision of just one player. Or, perhaps more accurately, it is waiting on a decision about one player. More on that later.

Ross, a slot WR from JMU visited last weekend and chose uva. I think weve still got an eye out for a slot guy.
They are definitely still looking at DE. Probably would add another DT and MLB. And on offense, OT and blocking TE look like needs but not sure the coaches are looking right now.
They should also be looking at best available. Don’t stand Pat if you don’t have to. They offered the Montana St RB like 10 days ago so they seem to be heeding that thought process.

Concur - if the coaching and prep doesn't change, expect more of the same next year even if we had a bunch of 4* recruits. Expect us to come out game 1 looking like we didn't practice for football season and more mediocrity indefinitely!

As far as the numbers go, I don't believe true freshmen count until they enroll so the ones that were not January enrollees will not be subject to the 85 max.

I believe you are correct, unless they are early enrollees.
The scholarship numbers for the 2024-25 academic year is 85
The scholarship numbers for the 2025-26 academic year is 105
