As we continue deeper into the transfer portal era of college football, should high school recruits adjust their strategy for where they opt to play college football? It seems like going somewhere you could play immediately might be a better long-term strategy than going somewhere you'll sit on the bench for two years, and then if you're not guaranteed a starting job, you'll have to transfer down a level to receive playing time. We've seen wide receivers and running backs have 1-2 strong seasons at FCS or lower-tier FBS schools only to then get SEC offers. Whereas take someone like Jeremiah Coney, who has played sparingly through two seasons. Would he have the same level of interest should he hit the portal? It just seems like production and upside will now matter more in the portal era and going somewhere to "develop" might be the wrong approach if "develop" means not playing for multiple seasons.
