   This is especially depressing coming off of a season or some people predicted. We might make the playoffs. Instead, we beat nobody of consequences who was starting their first string quarterback. I just can’t see next year being a success and I worry that players look at us now as underachievers.

   Wow! After reading this article, I'm depressed. 2025 season looks like a wreck. College football in general is a dumpster fire.

   Good grief that was probably the most depressing article I have ever read on TSL. I am sure that was not the intention, but go back and read where our new potential players are coming from. Not a lot of P4 candidates on our lists. Lindenwood. NC Central. Penn. Central Missouri Technical Institute Vocational Academy. We’re done. It’s over.

   Pry should take a page out of FSU and OSU ... take a pay cut and donate a big part of his salary to NIL to get more/better players in. He and his coaching staff has underperformed ... and Pry also needs to take accountability and ownership for shortcomings.

   Thanks for the honest article. Clearly we ar behind and difference in getting portal guys this year is we are looking for multiple players of ten or more when previous years it was much less. The other difference I see this year is why would good players come to VT after the disaster year we had versus how good we thought or led to believe we would be. Very disheartening

   Just take a look at next year's schedule and tally up.the wins you think are possible with the current outlook.Pry will have to do his best football work to survive the season.

      Service Academy players can’t participate in the transfer portal due to their military commitments.

   It's amazing that we haven't had one commitment yet. As an example, LSU has 7-8 on board. What a freaking trainwreck...

    I want to remain upbeat & positive but your article, Chris, has offered up a big ole dose of reality. I fear the football program is in trouble.

       I agree. I fear VT football may never come close to reaching the heights of past teams. We seem to be irrelevant these days.

    I think Pry was completely blindsided and didn't expect the majority of his top returning players to enter the portal. I'm having some serious doubts he's going to be as successful from the portal as the past two years. Too many holes to fill and not enough NIL. Also what does he really have to "sell" after the past two years results and the optics of the best players leaving the program.

       Your post is right on the spot. I’d imagine this group of guys who just left the program have serious doubts about Pry’s ability to be successful.

       Based on Whit's comments, there definitely have to be some upgrades coming onboard. He and Pry made a commitment to turn the corner and get things right after a very disappointing 24 season; no way they make such a bold statement and then do nothing. We just need to be patient.

    Why did VT agree to participate in Mayo Bowl if there weren’t going to field a team? You have to ask yourself at this point WTF is going on in the Merryman Center? Has Whit decided to retire and just not announced it yet, because in a couple of months things are likely going to be worse.

    We have a ton of players to sign from the portal...and we have NONE so far. Let's get a move on! Would also love to see some coaches, as well. I feel like we're the only program standing still at the moment.

       This for sure. Any word on if big donors have pulled some NIL money, or are we just waiting to sign coaches? Getting out bid by UVA is a very bad signal for our NIL. I’ve heard rumblings that big donors are not happy with product and aren’t willing to continue throwing money at something that isn’t getting better
