The Hokies went wild in the 2023 portal rush, grabbing nine guys. With so many of those transfers turning into starters for the Hokies (and so many of them sticking around for the following year), it’s not surprising Tech wasn’t as aggressive portaling for the ‘24 season, in which the Hokies eventually pulled in seven players. Where that ‘23 class gave the Hokies five starters (two of whom—Tuten and Powell-Ryland—have been tremendous players), the subsequent year didn’t have as much pop.
