The Hokies intend to give Pop Watson first-team snaps at Tuesday's practice. (Ivan Morozov)
Kyron Drones didn’t dress last week at Duke, Collin Schlee didn’t make it out of the first quarter and Pop Watson got the most meaningful snaps of his career, leaving the Hokies with questions aplenty about quarterback availability going into Saturday’s UVa game.

Coach Pry and his staff make the New York Giants look like a well oiled machine, in comparison.

“I think our guys are going to play their best. I’ll be disappointed if they don’t,” he said. “It’s our rival, it’s Senior Night, it’s for postseason eligibility. There’s a lot at stake, so I do think they’ll play their best.”
Pry: "if they don't play their best... its probably something we'll have to take a look at" --LOL
Buzzardlip
Yeah, that bit caught me right between the eyes!
My first reaction was "No sh_t, Sherlock"!
hokieheartdoc
Wonder if Coach TB will run numerous QB draws again this week!!!!!! Wow!!! "...Schlee has been banged up for a while...." Went back and watched the game, multiple designed QB runs without trying to get the ball downfield!!! What did we think was going to happen? Love Schlle and he has done an admirable job, but his big knock over his career has been injuries and we run him like a tailback!!! Shocker he goes out and Pop comes in! Didn't see that one coming.
Well, there is no 2nd option this week, so I hope for once our guys in the box wisen up and use a little common sense to at least keep a QB on the field although I have a hard time believing we will!!!!
LifetimeHokie12
Turner-Bradshaw moving to defense means we have two #5's on defense. How long before both are on the field at the same time?
Buzzardlip
LOL! Wait, that's not funny. To quote Judy Tenuta, "It could happen!"
middletennhokie
It would be great if TeeBow takes the same approach as Duke, and gets the ball out of QB3s hands quickly on pass plays. Will certainly help his protection.
Tim Lewis
When I'm reading an article and I come to a coach Pry quote I find my self skipping it because I don't trust what he has to say. That ain't good.
vtunited
I'm with you. I don't pay any attention to anything he says anymore.

VT football isn’t even an empty shell of what was VT football. Play for a last tier bowl in some place of no interest??? Will fans care or spend thousands of dollars to go? Program does not deserve to represent VT. Going to a bowl would be the final flush for this season and likely another …… show for the program.
ChazB
XTB is a ball hawk and perhaps we need some of those instincts on the back half of our defense.
Need a mobil package for Pop to take advantage of those blitzing Hoos as pressure is coming. Also would love to see us get to the boundary more as teams load the box, hopefully Mr B pulls a few out of his offfe dive bag this week
Let's Go... Hokies!!!
Beat the Hoos!!!
GO_HOKIES_GO
I don’t care, VT can go wildcat and direct snap to Tuten - they had better beat UVa Saturday night. End of story..:
George Baylor
Coach who are you kidding? Both Drones & Schlee are hurt and probably hurt badly. UVa knows as most of us Old Hokies, it will be POP and backed-up by Belfort. So what should we expect: Pressure and more pressure from UVa on our inexperienced QBs. As for the CAVs, this is their SUPER BOWL and a chance to go to a bowl that all their upperclassmen are talking about. CAVs will bring their A-game, with nothing to lose and as we have all year we might play 2-3 quarters at best.
Hope Pry understands that this is a Must Win Game & Whit too.

Definitely disappointing. Must be a hands issue.
MDHokie79
CBP: "...keep momentum going for the program." Say WHAT? Even with a win, which makes another 6, maybe 7 win season, there ain't no momentum here, no way no how....get real!
Atlee Hokie
You beat me to it. I was going to write a comment about the non existence of any noticeable momentum.
OhioHokie74
Hey, Mack Brown needs somewhere to transition for 2 years.
Both Watson and Belfort had solid recruiting profiles, are undersized but lack collegiate experience. Properly prepared with a good game plan, they should be good enough to beat UVA. Coleandrea had no interest from major programs coming out of high school, and VT should have the talent (not experience) edge at the QB spot even with their 3rd and 4th guys. Pressure on Coleandrea should translate into INTs.

Is there any merit to the number of injuries we’ve had this season being partly because these kids aren’t being coached well? Either they’re not getting the fundamentals of how to play but also protect their bodies, or they’re just putting themselves in bad situations due to poor in-game coaching and trying to make something out of nothing? It just seems like when your RB1, RB2, RB3 (Prioleau) QB1, QB2, star OL (Ghannam), among many others are out for multiple games, that something just isn’t right.
AbsolutVT03
No there's no merit.
MoreBaconPlease
I like Brent Pry, but boy wouldn't it be great to trade him for someone like Brennan Marion at UNLV.
MKD
I'm a little concerned VT may struggle to beat the Wahoos. The offensive and defensive VT game plans will have to be well executed because the injuries and depth are an issue in my opinion.
TomTurkey
Post-season bowl, hell. Beat the Hoos. Even Frank Beamer made that game personal.
RustyHokie94
"While some guys have shut it down for the season to gear up for the NFL..."
Who are we talking about? Are you saying we got guys who are sitting out a UVA game on purpose?
hokietony
That's not what he said. He was saying that if other guys (hypothetical guys) were in Tuten's position, they would have shut it down but Tuten wants to get out there and play.
Andy Bitter
I was speaking more generally, not specific to VT. Probably poorly worded on my part.
Players who are looking at their pro career first.
RustyHokie94
Gotcha and thanks!
VPI_1998
Probably Delane (although I don't think he's all that), hopefully not APR or Peebles.
If players who are getting paid are shutting it down to get ready for the NFL, they should be removed from the team AND not get their full NIL. What are they getting paid for - the privilege of the other players basking in their greatness?
3Manysons
I don’t think he was referring to our guys. It was a general statement.
HokieDelNorte
That is way I took it.
vtgriff09
Xavion Turner Bradshaw has been another staff disappointment in my mind. This guy looked electric last yr, and when you had a lot of rbs go down, it felt like he and Heath could be guys that we use in some packages to run more. I guess something has to thin out the loads of wr we have for next yr, but I thought Bradshaw offered a different look and skill set than the rest of the wr room.
5_4Hokies
I agree - XTB looked quick and shifty when he got on the field. Not sure why he can’t be used on offense unless he’s just not picking it up. Or perhaps it’s a coaching/evaluation issue. I’d love to have some insight but Pry seems to be tight lipped about a lot of things.
selhini
He's listed at 6'0" 170 lbs. Of all the positions on the field, cornerbacks take the least beating. Slot receivers going across the middle are prime targets for line backers and safeties. Sure, he may make them miss most of the time, but it doesn't take too many hits from a guy that outweighs you by more than 30 lbs to put a damper on your performance.
