I said before the season that while I thought Virginia Tech should go 8-4 or 9-3 during the regular season, my overall take on the team would be as much about the eye test as anything else. You can’t control things like injuries to your quarterback and running backs, and things like that can impact your overall record. I’m not happy about being 5-6, not at all, and I do think the Hokies should be better than that, even with these late-season injuries. But my main view of this team is shaped by what I see on the field, not the record, and what I’ve seen on the field all season has not been impressive.
