   Had to chuckle when Pry commented "so the game plan is what it was" regarding our dreadful run game. Is it asking too much for a 4million$+ coach to come up with a new game plan when the one that he has is not working? The head coaching faux pas this year have far exceeded what should be acceptable by any measure. From all reports from friends in Blacksburg Pry is a great guy, but the facts haven't shown in three years any semblance of him being an even adequate game day coach. I get so sick of hearing the TV announcers harping about Enter Sandman as the greatest entrance in college football knowing that it will most probably be followed by four quarters of head scratching, mediocre calls by our coaching staff resulting in another loss. Hokie Nation deserves way better than what it is currently getting on the gridiron. So sad and truly pathetic!

   Judging strictly by the number of comments, this game has Hokies Nation worked up. The game plan seems to have been "Let's hopt this s***t works". It didn't. Offense was non existent as a result. The Defense played a heck of a game for 2 quarters. . Unfortunately, games are 4 quarters long. The too frequent second half hero complex appeared to strike again as players missed assignments due to urges to make a big play. The Hokies must have depth problem with only 2 QBs and 2 RBs able to play in such a key game. All 4 were hobbled to varying degrees and it seems to have left the Hokies with nobody to fill those roles. Does the NCAA need to expand roster sizes for the Hokies to develop depth? This loss is an indictment of the coaching staff. They came into this game totally unprepared to win it.

   Coach Pry was an outstanding Defensive Coach and recruiter at PA State. He has not turned into a "Head Ball Coach" here at Tech. Sometimes the transfer never happens although he had the players and a schedule that was very doable. A good man, but needs to master what it takes to be the CEO of Tech football. I hope he gets there soon.

   You used the word debacle, and that certainly is the perfect word to describe this team, this staff and especially this O line. Dreadful also comes to mind. Sad, sad, sad. And really, who cares if go to some toilet bowl with a .500 record? Not me, movin on.

   Shame on me, I drank the kool-aid and thought we had a good team this year. We brought back a 500 team and that is what we still have. I should know better.

   The problem is we brought back 20 starters from last year’s bad team and expected a different result. Hype doesn’t win games, players and coaches do!

      We won 5 of our last 7 last year and we have multiple NFL players on this team. Our weaknesses from last yr were sured up with multiple DT and a successful MLB. The expectations vs our schedule were what they should have been. By year 3 and 4, you should be so much better, if you have the right guy (especially in this era w the portal and NIL...both at which we do fairly well in). Coaching flat stinks. The gameplan was to not run rbs vs a terrible run def with multiple DL injured, but instead to run 17 of 21 runs w/ our 2 banged up QBs. Makes sense. Even Andy is seeing the light. Will & CC have always been very measured and they stay professional, and Andy is the consumate professional....but even they see the writing on the wall. Hope someone that matters in decision making sees the writing on the wall too....we don't need new coordinators...total overhaul

    Pry knows he isn't going to be fired because if Pry goes so does Whit..They are tied to each other..This season with all the talent returning has been wasted and the main reasons are our coordinators aren't up to the standard needed to have long term success and our HC looks lost on game day just strolling up & down the sideline writing in a notebook..We should be at worst 9&1with all the returning talent yet here we are 5&5 and Duke and UVA will probably take us behind the woodshed..There must be staff changes at seasons end period,Tech cannot afford to stay mired in mediocrity..

    Missed tackles have been a problem all season. Tackling certainly wasn't the only reason we lost, but it was surely a major factor. i guess we no longer use the "middle drill" & similar tackling drills in practice?

    Pry blames it on injuries. Meanwhile teams like Indiana are 10-0 after being 3-9 last year. We're clearly not playing the same game in 2024 as wining teams are

       Indiana is a weird comp. Their situation is nothing like ours. They just hired a new coach, brought in 45+ new pkayers and played the easiest B10 schedule in 20 years. Check Iowa St or BYU. Much more similar comps to our situation

          Iowa State not a bad comp and by comparison they are killing it while we circle the bowl. BYU is a weird comp for anyone. Their average likely exceeds the Commanders!

                Both of those teams were middling for the past few years and are challengers this year. There probably isn’t much to learn, every situation is unique, and teams ebb and flow based on a delicate recipe of the right QB + the right schedule + momentum/confidence.

    Thanks Andy. At this point, after UVa beat a very good Pitt team, 5-7 is a real possibility. Hate it for the players. Defense and special teams played their butts off and O line did a good job. CS should make the next start, he's a better passer, and an equal runner to an injured KD.

    After this game, this whole staff has to go. Only 4 gives to the tailback all game?! WTF?! Coney did all right at 'cuse. Don't they always preach "next man up"? These clowns in charge are trying to be too clever. I liked the Pry, but he can't do the job.

    Didn't even turn it on, not even after half when I saw we were ahead. I just saw the stats at halftime and knew we'd get blown out in the 2nd. What was wrong with Coney? 93 yards last week; surely he could have done better than Oh for Four. Asking because this is the first time I've been on TSL since before Syracuse.

       Bad coaching at the end of the half, missed tackles, dropped passes or missed throws and big plays called back for penalities. Still I watch, I know….insanity.

    Had to leave house at halftime. Stopped to write something down and wife said what are you doing? I said predicting final score of game. My guess was 27-7 Clemson. So guess we are better than I thought? Saw score on TV in restaurant, so at least didn't have to watch second half when got back home. Absolutely NO confidence in our coaches responding to changing situations! Outcoached in every second half all year.

    I had with Pry, Bowen, and Marve. There is no excuse for the mediocre to bad play that we have seen this whole year. To see the team get screwed by the refs game after game and not get in their ear. Case in point, the blatant OPI when our DB is shoved to the ground right in front of the deep wing. No flag, no reaction from Pry. One or two plays later ref misses a hold by Jaylen Jones when we sack Klubnik. Dabo goes after the official giving him the riot act. 2nd half another blatant push to get separation from our DB, this time on our sideline. No flag and no reaction from Pry. This season is lost.

       Pry got in the refs face. Saw it live, maybe they didn’t show it on TV. He was heated and in the refs face about that and at least two other calls.

    I really like Pry's fit at VT and hope he can find a way for long term success. Given this being his third year though, I think both coordinators have to go and maybe some others. It's easier said than done but proven coordinators that have experience are needed. There is no consistency from week to week from either group. I'm just worried that if status quo remains next year then we'll inevitably be out a full coaching staff and AD and we're even deeper into a rebuild than we are now. If a rebuild is even possible at this point... maybe we just are what we are now.

       I agree we need new coordinators. I'm not as down on Marve as I am on Bowen. The defense was pretty solid against Clemson and has some really good players. Pry has a head coach mindset wrt how he runs the program, but his choices for OC and DC aren't working out. We need to hire an OC that has his own gameplan and can both develop a solid gameplan and make in-game adjustments. From what I see, neither of those are happening. Need to hire an OC that can attract a QB who can make reads and accurate throws, bring in solid RBs, and keep our WR corps. If Marve gets canned, I'm OK with that, but I think our bigger hole is offense. As for Pry, I think he had put together a good culture and that he would be a good person to manage the firing of top level coordinators and keeping the talent onboard.
