Thomas Castellanos fired a pass into the flat that was caught by tight end Kamari Morales, who hauled it in and was met by Virginia Tech safety Mose Phillips just short of the line of scrimmage. Phillips couldn’t bring him down, however, and Morales rolled over him and picked up 10 yards and a first down at the Hokies’ 44-yard line.
