Bud said that he did not switch to a prevent defense. That game is a forever memory. Stood up for the entire game and nothing was dry.

Maybe 1000 Hokie fans at the Granby Theater big BIG screen watching the rain fest! Happy to have won the game until the last play happened! We got them back at the ACC Championship that year, I believe.

Unfortunately, win that one and we finish 12-1 in 2007. We went to J'ville as well. And as we drove home from the game that night, there were a number of upsets in conference championship games leaving only one high ranking team with 1 loss (Ohio State). LSU made it in the championship game at 11-2 with the #2 spot. Since our one loss was a shellacking from LSU they may still have gotten the #2. But, since it was early in the year that could have been our 2nd national championship game.

The 2007 game still sticks in my craw. I had my Tech roommate and 2 friends who had never been to Blacksburg travel with me. Plan was to go to the game, go out and celebrate a victory on the town, and play the New River course the next 2 days. But we lost, got soaked, forecast called for rain the next 2 days, so we left in the morning. My worst time spent in Blacksburg ever.

The only time it wasn't raining that weekend was during the 5 minutes that Matt Ryan came back and beat us. I mean, if you're gonna rain....KEEP RAINING!!!
