Miami transfer Kaleb Spencer has taken the Hokies’ last open scholarship spot. A versatile player in high school, he at one point was committed to the Sooners, though he ended up with the Hurricanes. Spencer didn’t get many defensive snaps in his one college season, so we’ll lean on his high school video.
Spencer finished his playing days at Life Christian Academy where he was a do-everything player. At 6’2, 200, he can conceivably still fit into different spots on the defense. The Hokie coaches have stated they’re looking for a nickel to help settle the position, and fans want somebody to take the job and own it, but I don’t think Spencer’s the guy.
