   Chris’s uniform comments are spot. In regards to Scef and baseball he is throwback and not a warm fuzzy to his own or other programs. My son is D1 pitching coach and I could go in depth on the recruiting gossip. VT is at a disadvantage from the jump but Scef is a special personality. He isn’t going to create buzz or make a impact recruiting guys. Overall he is pretty darn good coach though.

   Totally agree about #2 and #3. As for least favorite, which game was that? Those are flayt out ugly. Whose idea were those?

   Also watched the entire game - awesome game and memory of beating Hoos. Gray running down Tiki B in 1st Qtr and set the tone for keeping Hoos out of end zone. Classic! Welsh classy at end - told Frank VT was best team they played all year.

   On VT baseball and pitching - I recently heard an anecdote from someone close to the baseball program regarding a noticeable trend of some VT pitchers seeming to decline throughout their careers here. Apparently a scout told one such recent Hokie pitcher not to worry about it when it comes to draft stock, because everyone (i.e., MLB scouts) knows that pitchers don’t get better at VT. That’s a problem… And regarding the uniforms, like another commented, your #3 is my #1. I really think those were great uniforms that had just enough burnt orange to make it obvious that it’s VT. Lastly, I couldn’t agree more WRT that Boise game and how pissed I was at the end of that one. I was there and I was fighting mad after that collapse. Sad part was I told my buddies I was with when we took the lead before their last possession that I was worried they had too much time on the clock. And then we proceeded to piss it away. Thanks for getting me all fired up again! Enjoy your European Vacation! “Look kids, Parliament, Big Ben.”

    I think that constantly changing uniforms can sometimes be a distraction for the players. Some players may be more aware of how "cool" they look than with how well they play. Don't need anything to disrupt concentration or focus on playing the game !

    I am old school and agree totally CC with the Michael Vick era of uniforms, Maroon / White Jerseys over White Pants. Very clean! Very Tech!!

       Agree with the Vick era uniforms, my favorite of all time. Chris’s other two picks are good too! Much better than the uniforms we have been wearing for the past few years!

       Absolutely! I'm amazed that we can't just have a uniform that when we wear it everyone knows, "that's Virginia Tech." Sometimes our uniforms (especially football) look more like Halloween costumes for a fictious team than a recognizable VT uniform. VT uniforms should, by their sight, be recognized as VT. And another thing: why don't all VT teams have a true Chicago Maroon color instead of some purple shade or whatever the color of the day is? End of rant!

          Couldn't agree with you more skautdog. And how about having a true burnt orange in our uniforms rather than the Halloweenish orange that we too often wear.

    I agree - I like a simple basic uniform design. My favorite uniform is the "Vick" era design and my second favorite is from my era - the "Claiborne" design with the "UCLA" style shoulder stripes. I think a uniform should be a brand - a design that immediately identifies the school, like Alabama, Notre Dame, Penn State, or Michigan - a design that doesn't change for the sake of fashion or glitz or to market for athletic manufacturers. Get a good design and stick with it. Do a novel uniform for a special home game, or occasion.

    I have always though that maroon was our primary color with orange as an accent color. I agree with the three picks for best. However, I think we should stick to a uniform like those to give us an identity like Michigan, Alabama and Ohio State. You rarely, if ever, see those teams in odd/crazy uniforms. The exception would be a Patriotic/Military uniform for Military Appreciation Day.

    Primary color: Chicago Maroon, since it's unique Secondary color: Burnt Orange, but don't overdo it Accent color: Hokie Stone, used in stripes/trim

       Exactly. When they choose to go orange, it should at least be the proper shade. When we dress like UVA, we seem to play like UVA...

    The worst uniforms I can recall were the orange, digital camo ones they wore against Marshall in 2013. Outside of just looking strange, the logos on the helmets were peeling off by the end of the game because of the rain. Some players had just a V or a T remaining on their helmets or neither. Now that I think about it, a lot of the uniforms we were in 2012 and 2013 were absolute garbage. 2012 had the Hokie track and Foghorn Leghorn helmets. I'm not sure what was with the fixation on the Hokie Bird that season. 2013 featured the Hokie Stone helmets that were poorly executed, in my opinion. It also featured the gray uniforms with the stripes only WVU had worn to that point, so it looked like we were copying them, which I am vehemently against. I'm with Chris. Stick to simple. The uniforms now would be fine if it wasn't for the weird stripes protruding from the collars. Depending on how long a player's last name is, you either barely see it or see the whole thing.

       Boise State. I love the uniforms and hate that we lost that game b/c it definitely tarnishes them. I still wish I'd bought a replica one when they were available though. And like CC that was probably the maddest I've ever been after a loss. A perfect opportunity to make a statement against a top team and we pissed it away... and those jerseys were never seen again.

       I want just enough orange so that you don't get fooled into thinking it's Tech playing when it's actually Miss State or aTm. But I don't ever want to be confused into thinking it's Clemson when it's actually Tech.
