Brent Pry and Virginia Tech tasted some success in 2023. Now it's about building off of it in 2024. (Ivan Morozov)
Spring has a different feel to it in Blacksburg on the heels of a 7-6 football season that saw Virginia Tech turn a corner in ACC play and wrap things up with a bowl victory for the first time in seven years, especially with almost all the key pieces returning on both sides of the ball.

Pretty sure what Coach said was "amenable attitude." A demeanable attitude would be something you DON'T want on your football team.

Thanks Andy, great info. It will be interesting to see if any players hit the transfer portal in the next window after Spring competition fleshes things out. So far CBP and staff have done an excellent job with roster management.

At least a couple will have to for VT to get down to the scholarship limit.

Thanks, Andy. It's good to know that good things are happening.

Davi Belfort has a chance to be the backup QB, based on the comments by the coaches, if you read between the lines.

“Glenwood Ferebee took a high school head coaching job in South Carolina.”
How much was he making at Tech?
How much could he be paid teaching / coaching in high school?

Wilson High in Florence SC has about 1300 students. Depending on how active their booster organization is, I'm guessing something well over $100K including salary and incentives.
Wilson's previous coach was making $88,836 in salary before moving to Dorman High where he is now making +or- 110K in salary alone.
In Texas a High School HC at the 6A level can make 150K or more in salary.
Coaches in some football crazy parts of the country can nearly match their salary in endorsements and appearance deals.

Andy re: adding Brewer to this role, it feels like VT is in the best position it's been in, with high schools both in the Commonwealth and around our footprint, since maybe when Jim Cavanaugh brought so much to it.

So who steps in with Lawson’s absence
Andy Bitter
Probably a good deal of cross-training, with McDonald, Keller, Woodson, maybe Will Johnson getting snaps.
