Virginia Tech fans will be hyped for Clemson in November, but a trap game falls the week before. Also, Dabo Swinney believes that the Earth is flat. (Jon Fleming)
Virginia Tech football’s 2024 schedule was released on Wednesday. We knew heading into it what the first four weeks would look like, but we didn’t know how the ACC schedule would stack up. I thought it would be manageable based on the teams on the schedule, now that we know, there are a couple of issues that are setting off gongs in my head.

Chris, you are not alone in wanting to personally wanting participate in the Carrier Dome's destruction. It truly was the site of horrors for the Hokies. Good Riddance!!

At the end of the day, I believe the cross country trip (in place of playing Florida State or Louisville) is more than a fair enough exchange. The travel isn't that hard. I lived on a plane, routinely did Chicago/Dallas as day trips and I even did San Francisco in a day (not advocating lol). I bet for many of the players it will be their first time in California. After what are going to be two physical games regardless of outcome, to experience your first trip to Cali might be just the pick me up needed; especially if you've just gone 0-2 the last two weeks. You'd get no mental benefit going to any other league opponent.

I always called the Carrier Dome the Jiffy Pop Dome.

Thanks for upsetting my stomach before dinner with the Syracuse history Chris. Agree 1998 was the absolute worst. Can remember right where I was when it happened.

I like 10-2 better.

Agree regarding the short week between Rutgers and Miami. That said, at least the Rutgers game is at home. Also understand the concern re trip to the dome. But looking at it another way we have 4 of last 6 games at home. We also get a bye after the California trip which is good situation. Overall I’m pleased with the schedule

Let me get this straight. Back in the ACC's old days, VT used to have a trip to BC and a Trip to Miami the same year, sometimes back to back. The 2 longest trips in the old ACC.
Lo and behold, VT draws the 2 longest trips back to back in the all new "improved" ACC.
Just our luck.

WTH, why not just go undefeated, shock the world, and be this season's turnaround darling?

My first trip to the Carrier Dome must have been '96. Following the game as we were walking out of the Hokie seating section, the loyal Orangemen from the upper level felt obligated to give the Hokies fans a beer shower. Class act to say the least...

Yep, Tech has pretty much stunk at Carrier Dome (ftb & mbb) over the years, just as they have sucked at that God forsaken Chestnut Hill (ftb & mbb) over the years. Hopefully, broke the CH curse this year; and, hopefully, can break the CD curse next fall.

Don't forget Pittsburgh! I hate when we play at any of the former Big East stadiums.

"Win those seven, and then win three of the other five, and we’re looking at 9-3."
Not sure I'm reading this right. Isn't seven plus three equal to ten? Which in a twelve game schedule would make our record 10-2?
