Get a good look. Offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen's beard is growing back in quickly. (Ivan Morozov)
It’s unclear how superstitious Tyler Bowen is, but after shaving off his beard ahead of Virginia Tech’s dud of a showing at Louisville — doing so to pay off a promise to his linemen after the Hokies ran for 300-plus yards against Syracuse — the offensive coordinator is leaning heavily into no-shave November to get back his hirsute look.

When we played Pitt, I noticed we ran a bit more towards the edges/perimeter. We've got to continue this against these big strong Dlines (like Louisville). Get Drones more involved on RPOs. The backfield is too athletic to have this week run the ball right up the middle play calling.
We also need the defense to play tough right from the start. We can't get down a couple touchdowns early. I'm still not sold on our Coordinators. Per Bowen “I think I’ve got to stay a little more committed to our plan, our normal-downs game plan coming in”. well if its not working don't keep butting your head into a wall. That doesn't mean pass the ball every play. But work out a different way to get some running yards in and loosen up the defense.

I know we were behind the chains alot but why did Tuten only have 11 carries? 5.2 yds per carry? You dont take sacks when you run the ball. Gotta be physical and go right at people.

Bowen seems honest, a realist. That gives him and the offense a chance, not a guarantee, to find their way.

We will know early if the Hokies are dialed in for this early road game - if the D-line is controlling the LoS and the O-line is at least providing some resistance, then VT will win the game (barring 2-3 turnover differential). If the lack of focus and physicality appears early (like in Louisville) it will be another long day. What has concerned me about this regime from the middle of last year is the lack of fundamentals - getting lined up, pre-snap penalties, blocking, tackling, etc. should have been corrected by now, the fact that they are not is troubling.

What ailed them was ville’ as line in the back field before the ball got to drones! That won’t be a problem this week Hokies roll!

I like the words.... Let's see if the actions match. Go Hokies!
