What an odd bit of dominance this game was. The defense simply out-played Syracuse in almost every way. There might’ve been some deviousness in the defensive plan there, but you couldn’t see it unfold because of how badly the Orange were whipped on the line. Marve could’ve been Ouija-boarding the ghost of John Madden for plays, and the Hokies probably would’ve still romped. Meanwhile, there were many times the offense couldn’t get out of its own way with missed blocks, reads, and throws, and still they gave Syracuse piles of problems.
