In August, I went to the Notre Dame-Navy game in Dublin. I was struck by how great the crowd was and how fans of both teams were there for days in advance and essentially treated the trip like a bowl game. I already thought that the current bowl system was broken and even toyed with the thought in my head that bowl games should actually be pushed forward to the start of the season. Going to that game pushed me even further in that direction.
