I love to read these stories of our players and what they did prior to coming to Tech. It makes them more human instead of a robot football player. You appreciate them more for what they have done and it is much easier to root for them.

Excellent work, Andy. It reminds me of getting to know an 18-year-old Kobe Bryant and watching his hell-bent-for-leather approach over the following seasons, with his intensity and ambition putting pressure on all the Lakers veterans and all the conflict that such ambition produces. The Hokies may be 1-2, but your story combined with others suggests the drama and pressure behind the scenes is 11.0 on a 10.0 scale. The program has so many question marks, so many pressures from all sides, and it will take time to work through those. Looming over all of this is what happened to Hendon Hooker with the previous coaching staff. No situation is ever the same, except for the atmosphere of pressure and drama that amps up the ante on every coaching decision. Good luck to VT. I've long enjoyed the team but have long considered the fan base, like all fan bases, highly suspect and impatient, thus irrational. One way or another, here's hoping they catch a break up in Huntington tomorrow.

I see Drones as a key to our success going into the future. Although Wells is a gutty kid .... he just does not have the "IT" factor, sorry to say.

Feel bad for the kid with the terrible coaches he has. Who knows what was said to get him to even come

I don’t. He’s the starting quarterback for the Hokies! Could be doing much worse.

News flash bud, takes more than a year or two to rebuild a program

Some good takes, thanks. The negativity on this board is a little hard to stomach at times.

If he starts it’s there for the taking……if he has a good game and wins the qb competition is over.
