While the elimination of Divisional play is a plus, and 14 teams is too many for Round-Robin play, the new format allows for something cloer to it. I'm assuming that every team will have a fixed opponent (VT vs. UVA, Miami vs. FSU, UNC vs. NCSU, etc.) home amd home for 2-seasons w/8 other teams (incl. ND) makes sense to me.

No wonder the media doesn't show Va Tech much love. Our QB was awful,we've got receivers who have never caught a pass against a power 5 program. Our O-Line sucked & we had no decent RB..So yes we've got some things to overcome.I think 6&6 would be a great bounce back to build on for 2024!,Go Hokies!

If VT had last year’s schedule with this year’s team they might get to 8 wins - unfortunately for the Hokies, the schedule got marginally more difficult and most of the ACC teams are improving as well. If the offense is markedly more effective and the defense and S/T make some progress, then VT can get to 6-6 and make a bowl - if not, then it’s going to be a long season (again)

We may end up living or dying with special teams this year. O will take some time to mature, and D will probably be above average if O can get to average. Gotta get special again on special teams IMO to make a decent bowl. I'm counting on our added depth to help.

Cesar's Sportsbook has Tech's over/under at 5.5. Sounds about right. We can separate "being a good team" and "number of wins", because we do have a weak schedule. The only obvious loss is at FL State, and others are probably at Louisville and to Pitt. Marshall on the road will be tough. But Wake, Syracuse, Purdue and NC State games are at home. Rutgers, Boston College, ODU and UVA are all ranked lower than Tech (if you believe Athlon's preseason guide). Barring major injuries, of course, there are six wins and a bowl bid in there.

Agree. 3-3 away 4-2 home. Ball bounces our way more than not and we get to 8 as you suggest. Of course I'm pinning hopes on a whole lot of stuff coming together this year over last year.

Color me quite skeptical, but I like your enthusiasm!

I think 6–6 is realistic. Will we see Virginia Tech’s new uniforms at the ACC kick off?

.500 would be a good improvement but not the one Pry is looking for and not good enough for Hokie nation. We must run the ball to give the mediocre QB room a chance. D has to be great and give us a chance to win more than 7.

I'm drinking the Kool-Aid and predicting an 8-4 record in 2023.

Drinking the kool-aid indeed! I'm not predicting any wins until I see that Hokie offense execute some plays - I will believe in improvement on the offensive side of the ball when I see it. Hope the offensive coordinator and coaches are successful in turning that awful offense around from last year, but not counting on it just yet!

First 4 non conference games we go 4-0. Then split the ACC games. My Kool-Aid is black cherry, yours?

Sounds like nothing of interest is expected to happen. Hope I'm wrong.

Yikes! With words like "dregs" and "dreadful" to describe last season, surely this year will be a noticeable improvement! (BTW, those words strike me as accurate and fair).

    All-ACC team pre-season voting....who cares? Irrelevant!

If the O is better and can maintain ball control and keep the D off the field longer there were a few close games that would've gone the other way. Even Pitt was close until the 4th qtr at Pitt. I feel a 6-6 season with 2 close games of less than 7 point loss. On D, I like the safety and corners coming back, will the front 7 stuff the run? On O, can we get a run game going and can Wells be 65+% completion with a 3 - 1 TD/int ratio? GO HOKIES!!!
