Dante Lovett is one of five true freshmen at cornerback for Virginia Tech. (Jon Fleming)
Virginia Tech updated its football roster over the weekend and released the heights and weights of its most recent true freshmen enrollees. There don't seem to be any major surprises, but a few guys weigh a bit less than I thought (hoped?) they would.

Has Clayton Frady not enrolled yet? I noticed his name was absent on the roster.

Why is the OL transfer Frady not on the roster? Is he arriving late or not yet enrolled?

Do you think we could buy a 6 foot rule with a 5 inch slide extension and a compact bathroom scale for the recruiters? I know that's $50 expense. but maybe Pry can spring for it out his bowl bonus.

I remember years ago when Hite and Cavanaugh used to comment that a lot of the freshmen would arrive out of shape and overweight because they had a steady diet of McDonalds food after the high school season ended. I guess this summer’s weigh in results represent the opposite? ?

Bone broth coated celery is the new McDonald’s for a lot of youngsters these days.

maybe we can give LB Tavorian Copeland jersey number 198
as a reminder of what he needs to become.
in the meantime with that jersey number we can legitimately say,
"He's 198."

Chris, why would VT recruit a guy like Jeanette if he's 205? It will take a full year just to get him to 220-225 and even he's most likely too light to contribute. Was this more or less a "panic offer" due to lack of bodies?
Chris Coleman
They needed a body for sure. I suppose that's why.

I wonder if a move to linebacker is an option. Hard to see him ever getting minutes at defensive end.
gemrooty
Right. Is it more realistic to expect Jeanette and Copeland to gain 50-70 pounds to be a DE, or to gain 10-25 pounds and work on their speed to be a STAR?
