After several years in the SEC, when Shane Beamer returned to Blacksburg, he said DL is what separates the SEC from the pack.

For some reason, VT understaffs in almost every area related to external outreach (alumni relations, fundraising, corporate relations, Hokie Club, etc.). Mr. Wurthman is a classic example - a talented guy spread way too thin without sufficient staffing beneath him. His job should be split among three people (Hokie Club, website/media, and everything else). Hokie Club needs to significantly step up its outreach activities. I like the Iowa State idea. He should also get a coach out to Charlotte, NY, Atlanta, Florida, and the Bay Area every so often to meet alumni who may never get to Blacksburg, but still care about VT sports. Many of VT's most successful alumni live outside of VA. Giving Bill Roth's students internship opportunities should also be a way to help get things done, although every intern requires a certain amount of teaching and oversight before they are additive. Money drives the business, and alumni relations and the Hokie Club have a lot of untapped potential if they could just get enough staffing to execute their mission effectively.

This won’t be popular with Will Stewart but I think VT needs to hire Chris Colman as a consultant to help analyze our needs because in so many ways he spot on.

1 to 3 DT's in next year's portal? The chances we get 3 DT upgrades in the portal would not seem to be much above a remote possibility. But I realize I don't know poop about such things, just guessing.

One thing we know is that Peter Moore will have plenty of opportunities to bounce back in a Bowen coached offense. I am excited to see how the new WRs do but again, it depends on if they can overcome Bowen's scheme.

So is Cole Beck officially coming back to the football team? Also do you think that Tucker Holloway will stay as punt returner or if Jaylin Lane or someone else will challenge him?

I won't lie. The situation at DE and DT looks bad, even dire....projects. unknowns... no one who you would look at and say, we got a stud. When we recruited Daryl Tapp, Chris Ellis...even if we didn't know how they would deveop, we knew we got something. Even Ken Ekanem and Tyjuan Garbutt, who had solid careers, were known, ranked commodities. But we have nothing.... I mean nothing that builds confidence at DT and DE

How much is Wurthman utilizing Student Interns? Seems like that would spread him out a bit as most interns are motivated to pump up their resume and want to be useful. TSL has obviously done well with that. Of course in practice it may be like herding cats.

Right on with brad. His group is extremely understaffed . Brad is smart strategic and creative but he cant do it alone.
