Just chill out. Maybe he'll sign, maybe he won't, but the vitriol and hand-wringing is a really bad look.

The problem is we are so low in the pecking order and have so little talent we have to put up with crap like this…….very sad.
That why you need someone with MASSIVE recruiting chops to turn this thing around, and Pry ain’t that.

He's half-way out the door already, less than a week after committing. He does not reflect the attitude and actions one would expect of a thoughtful, dedicated committed individual.
He needs to "Get with the program" or get his commitment pulled.

At best, it sounds like, "I have a spot at VT, if nothing else works out for "ME."
At its worst, it demonstrates a blatant disrespect for the recruiting process and the Virginia Tech coaching staff.
He'll be TROUBLE.

Uhhh I am committed but yall are choice 1C

Couldn't agree with you more 132711Hokie. Hey guys, I'm "committed" but still want to go check out other schools. What a bunch of crap.
Hokiesstickitin
At least the kid is being honest. Everyone on here is throwing him in the fire because he might go visit another school so he's automatically gone. I would rather him go to other schools and then commit wherever than to go to VT for a year and realize he hates it and we miss out on getting another great player for that year because he didn't fully utilize his visits. The kid says VT is his school and he loves it there because even if he doesn't go on the visits he still isn't anymore committed than he would be if he did til he signs the paper. Hell let him enjoy the experience so then if he commits to VT he actually wants to be here. Railing on him because he's honest is kinda selfish to me. None of these kids are and when they are he's a terrible person it seems

I'd pull out Webster and give him the definition of "commitment". If you commit to VT and then say "I'm going to visit Baylor and FSU", then pull the VT offer and send the kid home. Why play pussyfoot with this kid?

Sounds like he got wrapped up in the excitement. I can see him flipping. Pry is right about one thing, this is not a committment (he takes his committment because he boosts the class and idea we get 4*)
knapnhokie
i still want him to be my agent. Lets get him to Pamplin hall.
lazarus1
I wouldn't give up on him quite yet. Hate to bring up a player who didn't pan out but as some of you may recall Devon Hunter, a high 4 star player, also committed to VT or at least strong hinted he was leaning to VT but he then took a visit to another school (was either Fla. or FSU) and then came back and committed firmly to VT. Why shouldn't he enjoy the chance at being pampered in Florida. Not worried about Baylor.
11hokie
Well, that’s that. Say goodbye. This is just dumb.
extremehokie
nice knowing you Marcellus

Recruit is "committed" until he isn't. This is why I don't get too excited about early "commitments "....they aren't real until the LOI is signed.
gemrooty
So we call this a "soft" commitment. Can't say I blame a 17-year-old for wanting to take other trips. School's out for the summer. You got something better to do than getting pampered for a weekend at Florida State? Just hope he comes to a reasoned decision.
santafe
Hope Baylor and FSU are't really after him that hard, because if they are " he gone ". He's not really committed. We are a place holder for him. This is how I see it.
SCHokie1103
Well so much for his commitment.
chico
Hmm, sounds like VT is his safety school.
VicDrit
Sounds like he committed too soon. Ugh. Has to be maddening for the coaches. Probably trying to work that NIL.
Chris Coleman
Nah. He just got excited because everybody around him was committing, so he committed too. Normal 17-year old stuff.
Hokie67
EXACTLY, Chris. Honesty is a two way street - and it doesn't happen often in college recruiting. Both sides handled the situation as it should.
VT Rockie
This is BS. He isn't committed if he still wants to go visit Baylor and FSU. Tell him if he does then we will continue to recruit and he could definitely lose his scholarship. Does anyone in today's world understand the word committed? This is like promising to marry someone but still wanting to date the other girls just to make sure. (Hang on to that ring darling)
Hokeedokee
He is NOT committed and won't be until/unless he signs on signing day. Hope the staff told him we will continue to recruit for a 100% firm commitment for this position, and that if we get hat before signing day, the scholarship may go to someone else. I know coaches have to play the game and continue to recruit kids who SAY they are committed and glad they are willing to do it.
HokieJB
QUESTION: How do you know when someone is 100% committed?
ANSWER: When they sign their Letter of Intent
wwhokie1
And then they're only committed for a year,
teaysvalleyhokie
He's 110% committed, but he's not 800% committed. Seriously, at this point, he's playing games, and I don't consider him committed.
Twincountyhokie
Then he's not committed.
olemisshokie4life
Let him go - if he’s a true fit, he’ll stay. If he’s not - adios and good luck out there young man !
