Could Virginia Tech charge for softball games? (Virginia Tech sports photography)
Chris Coleman and Andy Bitter frequently answer Virginia Tech football-related questions in their respective Q&A and mailbag. As someone who closely covers and oversees Tech Sideline’s coverage of Tech’s Olympic Sports, I wanted to take some time to answer some questions about topics that might not get talked about as much.

Great article! Let’s make this a weekly Q&A piece’

Great piece.
How does NIL payments affect Title IX issues? Or - do they?

Techs softball team scored plenty of runs to win most games. Pitching was not what we had hoped for many reasons. Losing a top level coach was bigger than anyone wants to admit. Also a top level signee did not play. Watching the College World Series you can see how freshman can quickly help in the circle. And we saw how our freshman contributed right away. Hopefully our two high school signees can develop quickly next year under a yet to be hired pitching coach

VT baseball has 11.7 scholarships. Wrestling 9.9. what about swimming? what about T&F? What about each sport? Do all baseball teams in D1 have 9.9 scholarships? Do all universities with teams in NCAA D1 have the same number of scholarships for each sport? I assume they do, but just not certain. thanks.
Hokie1992
The scholarship numbers are set by the NCAA. Any team with a D1 team has that same number of scholarships

You are correct. The number of max scholarships is NCAA driven.
For example, all D1 Wrestling programs have a max of 9.9 scholarships.

Never figured out why they don't allow scholarships for the entire roster - even if they just set the roster limit. They can't say it's about money when they introduced COLA several years ago.

Fun article. This would make for a nice periodic feature. Once every 2 or 3 months or something like that.
