Antwuan Powell-Ryland could have a big impact for Virginia Tech this season. (Florida athletics)
Florida transfer Antwaun Powell-Ryland is an exciting get for the Hokies. He not only fills a gaping hole left at the defensive end spot with TyJuan Garbutt’s graduation, but he brings a pass-rush element that Virginia Tech hasn’t had in a long time.

Is there a read on why he wanted to leave The Gators!

It was mentioned in a post when it first happened. New coach, changed DC. Probably add the incentive for all right now, NIL grab

Great article, Brandon. Excellent breakdown of his strengths and weaknesses and how he was (mis)used at Florida.

I think I appreciate Garbutt even more after reading this.

Nice article Brandon! What I see as particularly important with this signing is that Powell-Ryland needs to continue to develop and be used properly in a turn-around year for Pry & Tech. It could serve as a guideline to future recruits and fellow portal guys that VT is relevant again (SEC to VT) and that Blacksburg is a place where players can find success. It's only May...but there is excitement brewing.
