It's been a special season for Virginia Tech, but it's been extra sweet for Kenny Brooks and his family. (Michael Shroyer)

DALLAS — When the opportunity arose for Kenny Brooks to leave James Madison for Virginia Tech seven years ago, his family was on board from the get-go — almost.

Waynesboro (where he is from) should give him the key to the city! People from around here say he really hasn't changed much over the years. Cool when things work out well for good people. He is good people. And add my name to the long list of people who are happy to see Andy on TSL staff! I'm dropping my Athletic subscription as soon as I can (not because I'm mad but because I only had it to read Andy's articles). Go Hokies!!!!

I just hope some SEC or Big 10 school with more money than they know how to spend doesn't come after KB

Feels like Kenny's a lifer in this area. I'd never say never, but he's been very selective and seems to enjoy living along the I-81 corridor in Virginia with his family nearby.

If there is a better ambassador for the Hokie brand than Kenny, I would like to see them. We have great coaches. Whit for MVAD!

Love the Bitter report. Nice article about Kenny and family. I knew him a little bit when he was at VMI in the 90's. He's a very likeable person as well as a great coach.

he is not just one of the very best women's coaches in the country; he is one of the best basketball coaches (men or women) in the country.

Just a class act that believes in playing and winning with integrity. Hope they can keep playing at such a high level and win it all.

Terrific learning more about Coach Brooks the man, the father, the husband, the coach and a legend in the making.
