I'd guess highest odds to transfer out are Maddox, Potteat, Wessler, Kidd in that order.
We really just need one spot to get a PF in the portal.

It isn't necessarily 4 players playing 1 position. Just because someone is on the roster, especially an incoming freshman, doesn't mean they have to play...especially when we seen in reality players are more limited than a pre-season preview is. For example, we talked about Poteat on the pre-season previews but he is more limited than we might have thought. Maddox will be an interesting case. Not sure what drove the transfer aspect of the question. Basile actually didn't just come on now. He has had good games and then less so.
But agree, this season was not just about injuries or freshmen playing defense. Pedulla's defense is lacking at times, in addition to his streetball mentality. Opposing teams like Miami read the system in the first game and we didn't adjust. Collins had actually earned a lot more time than what we think he was going and should.

I agree that power forward may be a need, but Tech’s lack of speed at the guard position seemed to really hurt us this year. We couldn’t get past anyone or stop dribble penetration consistently (especially when Cattoor was hurt). I like Pedulla a lot as a true PG, but a fast, athletic guard would be a huge benefit to this team. Does a healthy Rice solve this problem? Can Collins improve enough on offense to become more valuable? I am not convinced.

Yep, couldn't agree more. Hence the issues in ACC play. We have got to get some athletes in to play guard. Too many G5 level athletes playing guard for us, need some athletes to help us compete vs ACC caliber teams. There is a reason Pedulla was amazing before we got to ACC play. We have zero penetration game from our guards, others are blowing right by us and either getting buckets near the rim or kicking it out for easy shots.

Am I missing the story on Maddux? I know when he missed a few games it was a family matter and really haven't seen much since. Any news here? I personally think he will be a portal loss next season.

I predict Pedulla's going to blow up next year. He'll have the system down and be an ACC veteran. The game will slow down.

Thanks Chris for a great synopsis of both VT FB coaching changes/hires and VT MBB. IMHO, I believe the VT MBB team will have one to two entering the transfer portal at the end of this season.

Agreed, but even before missing time he wasn’t playing well. That hurt us quite a bit.

Re this season’s D, we really missed Nahiem Allyne(sp).
Good plus on ball guy with the thick body to stop guards bull rushing him.
10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists in 32 minutes LY. Could have helped us given our injuries.
