Brent Pry and the Virginia Tech coaching staff will hit the road for coaching clinics in February. (Virginia Tech sports photography)
1) Discuss the strategy, if any, of the locations of the Virginia Tech football spring clinics. Charlotte, Richmond, NOVA and Blacksburg. Realizing this clinic is for high school coaches apparently. Richmond and NOVA seem awfully close to each other to require two clinics. And, of course, no 757 clinic. – Stork

The offense needs to do some things well that translates to more wins. Perhaps Drones can be a one read and run type of guy like any young VT QBs of old. While we can’t win the conference with a QB like that its possible to win 8. Winning 8 and beating UVA is the new version of win ten….ugh.

Great read! Thanks

Good article, as always. I don’t see the 757 recruiting as an issue. We are recruiting for culture fit and have decent to good momentum in areas that get us the right type of players, I have serious doubts about our offensive staff’s ability to execute effectively, but we are recruiting smartly - lots of Iowa State, Wake competes, who both recruit well - and are getting quality kids.

My guess about recruiting in the 757: Being successful has to do with paying the handlers. They have their hand out and expect to be paid. Isn't there some "recruiting service" that is asking to be paid monthly to coordinate recruiting visits?

I do think these "gangsta" are really bad folks. and some independent news service should really go after them, their character and really let the schools start tightening up conditions for playing football.
it starts with the piece of work Glover....someone needs to ask where is his money coming from.. under the table... who he working for. Is allow on school premises.

Good stuff. Thanks Chris

I doubt the coaches were telling the WR portal transfers that Wells would be throwing the ball to them.

CC, I seem to recall on a podcast that you said something to the effect that no 757 player had been drafted in the NFL for about a decade?? Am I close??
Chris Coleman
It wasn't a decade, but it was three draft classes in a row if I recall correctly.

I do not think you have to limit it to being drafted by the NFL. You can take recent rankings in Tidewater from news or recruiting services and chart the actual collegiate performance against rankings and the number of kids performing at or above ranking evaluations pales to former times. The old adage that the juice must be worth the squeeze and that is a questionable proposition in the 757. Guys like Rayner, Glover and others have been parasitic cancers to kids from the area.

Are those guys looking to get paid or do they have other bias - perhaps jaded from some past snub from VT or an affiliation with a rival?
Do some schools pay the handlers?
They most certainly are not looking out for the best interests of the student athlete by restricting their opportunities. Very sad.

Didn't one them have their own kid or relative not get a VT offer and they got mad?
