Virginia Tech plays ODU again in 2023. (Ivan Morozov)
1) With all the talk about our OOC football schedules, what really makes the best sense from a recruiting and business-$$ standpoint? Play the state teams (ODU, Liberty), play regional teams (WVU, UK, SC), or your recruiting area teams (Miami-Ohio, PSU, Rutgers, Central Florida)? – Ranger Sam

"G5?" The SEC and b10 already had playoffs when Tech and Miami joined the ACC and BC followed in 2005 to qualify the ACC for a playoff. That 2005 Tech team was the best team in the ACC but was baited by the 'noles into a rash of penalties in th e conference championship game vs. FSU . The 'noles thought they were the btter team in 2004 (we didn't play yhem) when we won the conference and they wanted to prove it in the 2005 Inaugural Championship game. FSU was 8-4, losing to UVA, NCSU, Clemson and Florida and Penn Sate in the Orange Bowl to finish 8-5. We lost to Miami (ouch!) and FSU and beat Louisville in the Gator Bowl to finsih 11-2.

Btw, whereas the b10 generates more revenue (football), I do not believe it is a stronger conference football-wise. The SEC is yes, but not the b10 That the b10 generates more revenue is attribuatble to larger fan bases because the schools are larger and because they play in HUGE stadiums compared to the ACC. Also, the b10 footprint covers a larger audience than the ACC: Pennsylvania (5), Illinois (6) and Ohio (7) ll have larger populations than any ACC state, the 2 largests being GA (*) and NC (9). Michigan (10) and NJ (11) are larger than VA (12). The b10 media market includes NYC, Chicago and the DMV. The biggest media market covered by the ACC is Atlanta where GT is dwarfed by UGA. Next is the DMV. And whereas UMD football fans are apathetic, there are alot of b10 alumni in the DMV.who oprobably put asmany fans in Byrd as do Terp fans. Same thing for NYC; who cares about Rutgers? BC doesn't rate in Boston compared to the pro sports. The ACC is not going to enlarge stadiums. I'd counter though that ACC basketball revenue doesn't enirelly close the gap w/b10 football revenue but it's a healthy stream. I'd doubt that SEC basketball generates as much as does the ACC's. . . .

Maybe I'm reading this wrong (likely) but I don't think Maryland is in the ACC anymore. Haha.
4) Maryland has a home-and-home series with UCF.

I think the most recent movie that uses that reference is the remake of Midway (2019).

Tora Tora Tora is the movie

the 2019 "Midway" was a remake of the 1976 version w/the same name. Both are really good films each w/a different focus. "Tora, "Tora" Tore" is about Pearl Harbor.
