I would agree with almost every statement in this article except 2. 1) You feel better about pretty much every part of VT football, other than the offense, as you have in a long time. I don't see any staff changes to a very lost staff that regressed tons of positions with loads of returners. We were a 3 win team, the schedule is overall tougher and I have zero faith in this staff to coach players. Hope I am wrong, but we still have zero pass rush and we appear to be worse/same in almost every spot but corner and maybe QB?
2) Rutgers on the road vs WVU at home..WVU has a lot more talent than Rutgers. We walk into the game on the road (not a scary environment, nor is Lane anymore for anyone) and we walk into this game outcoached by a proven coach on the ither sideline. It will be close, and I am not saying we win or lose (probably lose if we coach like last yr), but WVU scares me anywhere more than Rutgers does. Liberty abd Marshall aren't far off either. Liberty bear Arkansas last yr.

Forget any hype. Show me in the win column. Until then, we will support softball.

Agree with the view of the offense. I have watched football for many years and I don’t remember seeing such a poorly run, disorganized, lifeless offense - not only at Tech but any other power 5 school. I may be exaggerating but I honestly don’t remember watching an offense this bad. It was so bad I literally apologized to Stiney (in absentia) for saying he was so bad. I don’t have confidence at all at this point because even a major improvement would still be below average. Hope I am wrong, I tend to wear orange and maroon glasses, but last year’s offense was horrific, “can’t look at it on the screen directly” bad.

I think Chris’s metaphor for the offense’s “brain trust” last season was perfect: all the artistry and technical prowess of a 6-year-old.
